Yeah you’d expect Jennifer to sit out bars. She’s the worst on the team. Alice is normally pretty solid there and most ankle injuries don’t stop you from doing a dismount.

I was kinda wondering if they would have Simone or Suni anchor beam, got my answer. I see a case for either so I didn’t have a strong opinion. That seems to be the only place they differed from quals scores though.

The US lineup choices make sense, I think.

Sitting Suni out for vault is a no brainer, and I actually think so is floor. Obviously Jordan would’ve hoped for a higher score, but she was solid and there’s a strong case to exempt Suni from leg events.

Bars and beam are a bit more complex maybe, but I really can’t see how Tom could’ve used someone who fell twice in prelims. Even someone who doesn’t historically look for the easiest option might balk at that. And for bars, I think there was some argument for Jordan given that Grace isn’t likely to go much higher than 14, but it’s a defensible decision.

Ok my bold prediction.

China counts several falls. France goes 12 for 12 and takes bronze.
USA will be “normal” USA and defeat Russia by 3 points.
Darkhorse: Belgium. They are minimizing their difficulty but executing as perfect as they can. 15 out of 16 E scores in TQ were all above 8.000 with the exception of one 7.400 on beam from Vaelen, which counted a fall. Look for them to do well if they hit because the judges are correctly scoring their execution.

Better France this year than Italy in 2019. I was so angry and bitter after Doha TF. But I actually like the French team, and China made some unforgivably stupid mistakes in Olympic selection.
