So Jessica got a score today which would have gotten her the +1 Olympic qualification in prelims. FML.

That type of entry can be renamed a Listubieva!

Looks like Jessica Gadirova would be a pretty good TF compliment to Becky. Wish GB had gotten the extra spot over Russia because a team of Ellie, Jessica, Jennifer, and Amelie would be pretty strong and Becky could still bring it as a specialist. But a team of Downie, Downie, Gadirova, and Gadirova would also be really strong if everyone hits their best bits.

So, er, was it Listunova or Urazova who said she was going to challenge Simone? Cuz…there’s still some work to do there for either.

Back to whining about the coverage again, we only got 50% of the routines from the eventual bronze medallist. They showed us the same number from Gadirova as from Lihi Raz, ffs. Who I have nothing against, but she qualified in 30th.

It’s not like there won’t be ample opportunity to show gymnasts from smaller programmes in the EFs either, if that’s the angle they want to go for. There’s going to be representation from the likes of Latvia, Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, Azerbaijan and there’s almost certain to be a Swiss medallist too.

The two GB girls really knocked it out of the park this week. Aside from Jessica’s prelims beam, they were pretty much flawless.

Amelie would be the perfect Alternate for GB. With a DTY, you could put her up anywhere and you’d feel confident.

But it would have been at the expense of Larisa so… too bad! Not feeling sorry for you! (but the dream would obviously been Larisa + a GB spot)

I would like to see Jessica’s beam and floor, which obviously we didn’t because there’s tape to be put on and taken off, before making any calls. Today was obviously a great achievement, and it speaks well of her that she can come back from such a scary mistake on Wednesday, but it also looks like there’s a realistic possibility she minor wobbled away a silver that was hers for the taking.

Ok Listunova’s DTY in slow mo. That’s a 0.5 knee bend on the table, right? Then leg sep. Shoulder angle. Pretwist. And feet. Can you take 0.9 for the pre-flight?

It was a great day for Amelia, but Jessica outscored her on everything but bars, and Amelie’s 13.733 is only .33 over Jessica’s 13.7 in quals. Overall, Amelie seems to add about .2-.4 over Jessica on bars. The bigger question is going to be which of Jessica’s beams was more of a fluke

The Gadirova girls are so promising for GB. And in a 4-3-3 line up, having them both, and Ellie, is a huge deal. I really can see GB winning bronze in TF if they go 12 for 12 with the two Gadirova’s and the two Downies.

It’s crazy that a week ago we were all thinking Alice would be doing AA in TF for GB and now she’s legit old news…

Mmm I think that approach makes most sense in an Olympic TF. You want your Amelies to make sure you can qualify, and she would be a fantastic 5th athlete on a team. But they’re as well to finish 8th as 4th so honestly, I’d go shit or bust.
