I’m still trying to figure out how Roberson got an 8 e score on beam.

On their way to the bar for another one!

eta: and some more acid.

Me too. I had her at 7.0.

Judges either not taking deductions or are ignoring body shape positions, etc.

If you look at the Japanese team on beam and then Roberson…there is no comparison.

I just watched the replay of the routine. She was credited with a 4,4 D-Score (so no same bar flight credited).

Had she caught and NOT fallen, she would have had a 5,3 and thus outscored Shilese in the AA at Liverpool!!!

(So today, had she received everything - i.e. counting a D instead of a B, counting the CR and an extra 0,2 for CV, and added back on the 1,0 from the fall, her AA score would be 55,95!!!)

that’s the thing about Simone’s and Suni’s new bars compositions. They only have 1 same bar release at the moment, which is risky in the event they fall on the skill in TF. Shilese has her Tkachev and her Downie/stretched Downie

OMG guys, did Mélanie do good??? I just caught her bars, but her scores looked strong.

She’d have won this session with a 56+ if she wasn’t a guest!

I got a better look after Falcon posted. He looked like Al but it wasn’t Al. A different bald guy and Falcon knew him.
GAGE has 4 primary coaches… Al & Armine… of course. Alex and Tiffany have also been there for many years… they are both very good. Tiffany was a GAGE athlete as well. We rotate with Alex and Tiffany on a regular basis in L9/10 sessions.

I thought Roberson hit her face on the bar but she doesnt appear to be in pain. Not sure what I saw.

It’s just as bad watching it the second time. I actually watched in slo mo to see if maybe I was being too harsh on her split positions, but no. Not one of them was close to 180.

It looked like the fleshier part of her armpit hit the bar, towards the top of her ribcage. She immediately seemed to go on without any pain, which was a relief

I do think she gets close to 180° split and it’s hard to see in real-time because there’s no “hang time” to the split position.

Roberson Beam, being as un-harsh as I can.
Tucked full low 3, balance check 1
switch split short of split 1
switch half bent leg on switch action 1, short split 1, hip position in splits 1
back tuck leg separation 1, indistinct tuck 1
adjustment 1
aerial + loso + loso actually quite good.
Onodi with tinsica-like walking: bent leg 1, crooked 1,
Rhythm in connection 1
split jump 1 for split angle
Pike-Straddle jump chest position 1, lack of leg separation 1
Double pike feet 1, leg bend 1, low chest 1, step back 3

7.7 before deducting for artistry. She and Cecile are working the rubric pretty well there, so she’s not going to lose a lot, despite any intuition you may have.

So maybe 7.5…

I’m watching on slow-mo and her switch split hits 180 for one frame but it hits nonetheless. Didn’t look it in real time.

Switch 1/2 will incur .5 internationally. She’s got a very bent knee pre-switch, gets to like 160 degrees, has splayed hips, relaxed feet… .5 is the maximum you can deduct for split form, yeah? This code it’s either a .1, .3, or .5 deduction?

Her free cartwheel at 0:57 demonstrates excellent stretch. Great extension through her legs and good split

Nice full turn

Her Onodi looks more square than it did in winter. Will this get CV internationally? At the conclusion of the Onodi, her arms are raised and she swings them down for the split jump at 165 degrees. Stellar pike jump

Crossways straddle jump is good split, she’s a little too hunched forward in the air on it but that might just be the angle of the vid. Great amplitude and upright landing

I think this is good composition for her aside from the switch 1/2 and the dodgy dismount. She’s missing a battement or needle scale, some demonstration of extension within the choreo
