I understand. I wasn’t too sure about going to Trials with a crowd but no way I was missing that. Suni’s family and community has been devastated by COVID anyway so maybe they figure they want to take the risk.

I think you get to a point of fatalism. It’s been so awful since COVID. And we need something besides survival.

I agree. I had Urazova 8.8 and Melnikova 8.1 but somehow Melnikova won…

There was some serious fix in for Melnikova today IMO

It is also me being sarcastic because in 1996 one of the fluffs abut Shannon was:

Ok, world AA titles aren’t thing. Like they’re nice and all, but they aren’t equal. Ask anyone who’s won one and failed at the Olympic AA.

Also the average America has heard of Mary Lou, Nastia, Gabby and Simone. Carly, I’m not so sure. Shannon they know from the Mag 7, not her world AA wins. They haven’t heard of Kim, Chellsie, Bridget, Morgan. Shawn and Jordyn possibly, but only through their Olympic participation.

It’s the same in Russia. No one remembers Mustafina or Khorkina from world AA, they remember them from Olympic gold.
