Actually, I think they listened to our own experts here on Gymnaverse. 😎

Eta: Could someone please tell me which Gadirova twin is the oldest? For the life of me I can’t tell them apart! They are both just adorable too! Twin stars! 😍😍

^ it is pretty baller that we can all come here to get accurate scoring opinions, routine composition comments, reality checks, genuine excitement and community, scoring updates, live scoring, and superior commentary. It’s literally superior to the broadcast in every way.

The moment Suni found out that she’s the Olympic All Around champion. I hope this is ‘emotional’ enough for the snarky Negative Nellies, Wet Blankets, Party Poopers and overall haters. 😏

If you look at the original top 6 qualifiers “best” from the Olympics this is what you get (assuming I didn’t make an error). Obviously we all know it’s not super realistic to blend scores together from different comps and some had more opportunities for scores than others but here you go, Suni actually comes out on top:

I know. Every time the BBC report a score and wonder what happen I ask “why aren’t you multi-screening like all of us?”. Even a quick hits blog would help them out.

Looking forward to score dissection 😁

It’s a tiny bit of a relief that Suni and Rebecca would have been on the podium even with a healthy Simone winning, all things equal. The Russians looked great, outside floor where they both gave things away

SO excited for Andrade. Three months ago she wasn’t even qualified to the Olympics. What a run! I’m also loving how excited she was with silver. Yeah, she could have gotten gold with a hit floor routine, but a silver medal should be a huge accomplishment for her. If Simone were competing she would have been on the podium anyway. So happy she’s happy!!

And if you would have told Suni a week ago she’d win AA gold, she never would have believed you. I bet her dad is elated!

I suppose with her Dad’s medical bills Suni will feel pressured to make bank. I hope she still goes to college. This being such a weird Olympics I’m not sure AA Gold is worth what it was in 2016.

While we are talking scores, the e-panel differentiation is in a sorry state. It really, really proves that there is a need for fine-grained deductions. In this meet a “small” .1 and a “big” .1 should have been difference-makers.

Among the top 6:
-BB: Two 8.3s, three 7.966, and a 7.733
-FX: An 8.3, an 8.266, an 8.166, and three 8.1s. Two tenths of range! (8.166 = 7.766 with OOB)
-UB:an 8.6, two 8.566, an 8.5, an 8.366, and 7.833. One tenth of range within the bars queens.
-VT: 9, 9.1, 9.133, 9.2, 9.233, 9.4. (9.4 = 9.3 with OOB)

11 out of 24 routines had identical execution. Unacceptable.

I’m really happy with this final overall! The top 5 are who I was hoping for (maybe in a different order, but you can’t have everything), and it’s so cool that the top 6 made it through without a major error.

Thank you, I had a feeling I was missing something, my eyes were kind of hurting going back and forth between all the scores. Here is the updated version, Suni still on top but barely:

I didn’t break it down to E scores to break the Urazova and Melnikova tie but it’s probably safe to assume that Urazova would break that tie, right?

I’ve got the rankings by D and E sores!
