Agreed. How can she possibly know that hers is the only safe gym in Maryland. That makes it seems opportunistic and the legitimacy somewhat questionable.

Her claim as the ‘only’ safe gym could even be challenged imo, perhaps even as false advertising. Indirect, borderline slander and libel against other gyms, without naming names, in her area, as her claim could make one assume that their businesses are ‘unsafe’.

There are at least 20 gymnastics clubs in MD (including one owned by Aurelia Dobre, which is news to me). While I imagine there is some chatter among the gymnasts and families between clubs, it’s still a stretch to say that Dawes’ club is the only safe club when she only has intimate knowledge of just one of them.

Dobre and her husband have owned a whole slew of clubs. None of them stay in business for all that long.
