Simone is without question the greatest and nothing that happened in Tokyo changes that at all. NOT AT ALL

I know we give some olympic champions asterisks because of how the competition went or who wasn’t there and this one might end up in the category because there are so many whatifs, but I am so glad that she has her Rio medals so don’t have to call her “one of the best who never got there” and qualifications where Simone was the top scorer and the only one to make all finals also helps blunt disappointment in how it ended up.

Yes, they can withdraw until they march out and assuming the reserve is there, they can go. It’s happened before when someone got injured in warm ups

I hope she is able to do it, and do well. Not for all of us watching but just for herself. I think that the one thing I hope we have all learned (are you listening NBC!) is that anything can happen on any day in any event and that NO ONE is unbeatable. That is the crazy beauty of the sport. And she can still be the greatest AND be beatable. Both can be true. Sending prayers and positive love her way that she can finish this Olympics in the best way possible for her- if that means competing or withdrawing.
