I think for a while now the sport has been at a point where it's hard to sustain consistency over a long competition because of the difficulty, especially with how much attention the athletes get from the media. It didn't seem to be like this before 1996 or 2000.

I’m tired and I’m just watching. Spectating a multi day event is mentally taxing. I feel this way the final day of every worlds and Olympics. So much stress. Such a roller coaster of emotions.
