There hasn’t been a national championship since 2019, therefore Ellie Downie is technically the reigning champion
Based on the closed door trials you’d probably say Jess or Alice won the AA right?

Low key remembering certain comments (in 2019 AND 2020ne) how Suni could only make Tokyo as a specialist…

Anyway, what a great final. The U.S. now has five consecutive Champions (the last three women of color), Brazil achieves a historic result, and Russia’s WAG and MAG results are aligned perfectly.

I’m a huge fan of Simone, so the news of her withdrawal was sobering and devastating, and I desperately wanted the first back-to-back Champ since Caslavska. But where one dream ends, another continues, and the notion of a new OGM became more and more exciting as the event went on. Suni Lee is a worthy Champion, with or without Simone.

Now that I’m not metaphorically biting my nails throughout this comp and not watching the apparatus feed, I can pay better attention. Andrade just floats on UB.

Lol my husband just said of Nina “her legs are so straight !” I’m just letting him enjoy his enthusiasm while clenching my teeth and muttering under my breath “but the feet, the feet, how could you possibly notice the legs and not the FEET!”

I don’t understand how Melnikova’s UB outscored Urazova’s, per the NBC broadcast. Melnikova was at least 0.3 on the inbar full and the piked jaeger is consistently awkward.

Much of their footage has been from the side, very good for seeing handstands.

I had to share this: Ellie Black made a drawing for Brooklyn Moors to remind her of her support, as she couldn’t compete herself because of an ankle injury!
