Levi Jung-Ruvivar is currently 7th on bars, 13.333.

Switching gears....Asher Hong had a miserable day. 12.733 on floor, 12.266 on PH, and 13.8 on rings. Won't make a any finals.

Yeah, you can't get reallocated points if you don't make the final. You'll just get whatever the maximum from prelims is, you can't get the 18 or whatever reallocated because everyone in the final is from an already qualified team.

In theory there's nothing to prevent an athlete using some points from a competition where they didn't make the final. Like say if you won two and bombed two, so your scores were 30, 30, 10 and 8 you would drop the 8 and count the 10 as one of your three highest. But in practice it probably wouldn't happen.

eta- looks from what Red Birdie posted below that my first paragraph is incorrect?

Sorry, I posted the wrong info previously. If you finished in the top 16, you are eligible for reallocated points. Outside of the top 16 after qualifications? No points for you, no matter how many ineligible gymnasts placed above you.

Stupidly and overly complicated from FIG...so news as usual

Bars is still rumbling on! They have 59 listed and 42 scores so far. Nemour is still to come.

Casabuena is out of the final. So that's 3rd and 4th place from last week (excluding ACO for obvious reasons) who'll miss out here. Could have later repercussions not only for the bars top 2 but by extension the European continental spot.

Someone remind me.....a country that didn't qualify as a team, what is the max number of athletes they can send to Paris?

3 I think.
had the same question but I think I got my answer in the 'olympic qual' thread, per irichuck 21

Thanks, Ginger, that's what I thought. Yet FIG world cup olympic qualification points include Mexico, so I thought maybe I was wrong. Looks like FIG made an error (shocker!) and Mexican gymnasts shouldn't be eligible for those points, since they secured 3 spots already.

meanwhile, neutral athlete Alena Tsitavets is 4th on bars. Interesting.

In WAG, Mexico, Germany and Hungary all got the maximum 3 from worlds and so are ineligible to qualify anyone here. Spain currently have two, and everyone else no more than one. I would say Spain and Belgium, in that order, are the most likely to end up with the full three.

Looked her up. She's from Belarus.
Then I found this, FIG authorised neutral athletes list. I probably missed something, so does this mean Russian MAG and WAG are definitely out of Paris?

I think the continental spots are awarded after the World Cup spots in the order of things. Most of the continents are using this year's championships to determine that spot; because of the timing of Pan Am games, the Americas are using last years competition, but the spot won't officially be awarded until after the World Cup qualifiers are decided. So if someone earned a spot through both Pan Ams and World Cups, they'd get the World Cup spot and the Pan Ams spot would be redistributed to the next person on the list.

Practically yes, even if any were to apply and be accepted. In theory people could qualify from two world cups only, but that's now how things are shaking down.

You're correct that Continental spots are technically awarded after world cup spot. But Mexico obtained all their spots at worlds: the nominative spots, and the third non-nominative by finishing 13-15 as a team.

There goes me trying to give FIG the benefit of the doubt. I should know better (and look things up before I post)

And this week it looks like because of this rule only 6 gymnasts will actually score points on MAG FX. Eddie Penev, currently third in the rankings, finished 17th today, so no points for him even though he is the 7th best eligible athlete.

The second spot on MAG floor is looking wide open. Ryu Sunghyun looks a good bet to take one spot with 30 points last week and qualifying third for the final this week, but second third and fourth from last week have all failed to score this week.
