Why don’t they tell you the salary?
Pretty standard in the US these days. A few states have laws that you have to include a salary range in job postings, but most places can just say "Commiserate on experience" and require the applicant to give their acceptable range first, creating a fun guessing game for the person applying.

Welcome to American Capitalism. It's insane.

FWIW, my industry's professional association enthusiastically supports salary transparency in job postings. To post on their job board, or the job board of any local chapters, salary range for a position must be disclosed. I believe it's made a huge difference.

"commiserate on experience" is a nice typo with reference to today's job market

Yes, elected, and very restrictive criteria for who can be nominated. "Must have been a Brevet judge for at least six (6) years and served as a member of the Technical Committee." There's just a handful of people who are qualified.

The must have served on the technical committee rule feels like a deliberate way to exclude international applicants. There are many international judges who would be interested (and potentially more effective) in that role.

Technical committee is concerned about rules and policies of the entire WAG program. It has very little to do with elite. Things like continuing education requirements for judges, determining deductions of level 7 bars, etc. Very dry, boring procedural stuff.
