It’s really bumming me out that Epke, Kohei and Yang, all Olympic champions already, ended their careers this way

He is still thinking about Worlds, if his health improves from now, so his retirement is not definate for now… last Olympics though…

And he made rings EF in Rio in the rotation prior to vault but obviously couldn’t compete.

He finally made it!

No he’s the only one today who didn’t. The other five world cup apparatus winners have each made their respective EFs.

Epke just looked like time had caught up with him. We always knew there were going to be gymnasts for whom the extra year was one too many. I’m not surprised he’s retired now, it was pretty obvious he was only sticking around because it was one final Games.

So I guess they were saving the better Nikita coverage for NBC’s broadcasts, still not great, though.
