I’m only saying I want Rebecca to vault a 2.5, have perfect form and a great landing, not get injured, and then vault her Christ the redeemer Cheng inside the lines and with a stuck landing, and win gold by a healthy margin of half a point, and then win a floor medal too.

Is that seriously too much to ask???

Let’s hope not. For vault at least, I have other hopes for floor 😉 I’d go for the other way around, Cheng first since it’s her primary vault. Get a beautiful vault under her belt and then go for the Amanar.

Wonder what Yeo will vault?

She did a Rudi and a DTY and stuck both. Probably needs to attempt her vault (the 2/1 front) in order to be competitive for a medal.
Since she has just 5.8 and 5.4 so ranked 8th in terms of start value. Carey and Skinner both at 11.8, the other 5 at 11.4

Skinner was 7th, just .001 ahead of Melnikova.
Yeo had the 3rd highest E score but has the lowest D score. So if she can repeat TQ vaults she has a high chance of a medal if the top 3 (Carey, Andrade, Skinner) falter.

This also includes an OOB from Moreno and Melnikova on their second vaults.

you know… it’s been a crappy week and I really don’t know if I can handle MyKayla Skinner, Olympic medalist… I’ve made my peace with MyKayla Skinner, Olympian but Olympic medalist may drive me over the edge

What about Olympic Champion?

@Doug1233 is right. This final is tight at the top and crazy things could happen. @tempest we had better prepare ourselves for Skinner Olympic medalist because it is almost surely happening. I wish Andrades Cheng got the credit it deserved so that she wouldn’t think of upgrading that dry. I’m worried she will throw away a medal (or an acl ) with a late upgrade.

(I also wish auto correct wouldn’t “fix” cheng for me)

Skinner gave away her .4 superiority in D with terrible landings in qualifications. She’s likely to do it again and more.

Watch Skinner have the two best vaults she’s ever done in her life.
Actually I don’t care if she wins, as long as she has good execution and everyone is fairly judged. I’m not at all invested in this one.
Bars, though- I really, really want Seitz to hit the best set she’s ever done for at least a bronze.

I feel the same, I just want whoever does the best vaults to win. I would be genuinely happy for Jade, Rebeca or Mykayla to win as long as they deserve it and do the best vaults. Also wondering if Mykayla medaling at all will help the argument for eliminating the 2 per country rule.

I’m so conflicted about 2pc.
On one hand, I don’t really want to see a final that’s like a nationals EF.
On the other, I do think it’s quite unfair.

Also, it’s possible Skinner will perform better just because she’s probably only been training VT since quals. Jade and Rebeca and some of the other finalists will have already done TF and/or AA final. It might give her a small advantage.

I don’t really expect that. I mean, anything can happen, but MyKayla’s landings are generally her strength. She definitely left a few tenths on the mat in quals.

It was always pretty likely that she would win a vault medal once she got named to the team. I don’t mind that outcome anymore.

I very selfishly hope so. I also hope that people type “xxxx won” rather than “she did it!” Because the former is so much easier to read in my sleep deprived early morning state. Since I’m asking for favors. 😉

And go Rhys!
