It’s so funny. DiCello, Wong and Grace are all fighting for that 4th spot, which is basically a DTY + a backup bar routine.

They all fell on bars. 7.5, 7.5 and 7.1.

Well that was really fun. Agree with Biles, Chiles, Lee and the survivor of Grace/Wong/DiCello.

Soooooo thrilled for Chellsie. Was not surprised by her bars fall given her lack of full sets in training, glad she competed though because the thrill of the hindorf-pak (surely the most distance you can get from the bar without falling?) and the double tuck was worth it. Great to see her DTY back and a much less nervy beam (though that’s still in the bottom 10% of her training arabians). Was aching for her to do a dance through with basic tumbling to get an AA score. Would love to see her place on beam.

Kinda feel like the team needs a backup floor more than backup bars. I wonder about how Chiles will score there in Tokyo, and of course Lee’s foot situation is a worry.

Yeah they need to be an AAer! But all of Grace DiCello and Wong can do a good floor routine.

It’s funny how, in two weeks, we have really narrowed down the team. It’s v unlikely to be anything other, at this point. I just don’t think Eaker works (she can’t vault and with Suni, you need a vault). Emma, no. Skinner, no. Riley, probably no. Morgan (tears), no.

It’s really just down to those three for the final spot.

I’m shocked at 8.45 for RIley on bars. I think they’re deducting slightly short kip casts when they shouldn’t be.
It looked like Riley may have had a slight pike in her hips following some of her casts, which would be deductible. However, I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it’s difficult to tell unless seeing them straight on from the side. I had her at 8.5 / 8.7 as follows:

Riley McCusker, Uneven Bars

1 x F (stalder piked Tkatchev / Downie)
3 x E (Richa, van Leeuwen, double front 1/2 dismount)
4 X D (toe-on full, Maloney, Tkatchev, Pak salto)

Total DV - 3.7

CV:

toe-on full + Maloney + Tkatchev (D + D, and D flight from low bar to high bar + C or higher with turn or flight on high bar) - 0.3

Ricna + Pak salto (E + D or higher, both with flight) - 0.2

Total CV - 0.5

CR

Flight from high bar to low bar - Pak salto
Flight element on same bar - Tkatchev
Different Grips - Maloney, l-grip giant
Non-flight with 360 degree turn - toe-on full

Total D - 3.7 + 0.5 + 2.0 = 6.2

Deductions

toe-on full
  • (lack of precision / balance error) 0.1
  • (leg / foot separation) 0.1
Maloney
  • (leg separation) 0.1
Tkatchev
  • (insufficient height, hips at bar height upon regrasp) 0.1
cast to handstand (following Tkatchev)
  • (grip adjustment) 0.1
Downie
  • (flexed feet) 0.1
Pak salto
  • (angle of completion → between 31 and 45 degrees of handstand) 0.1
cast to handstand (following Pak salto)
  • (grip adjustment) 0.1
cast to handstand (following van Leeuwen)
  • (grip adjustment) 0.1
giant to Higgins roll
  • (angle of completion → between 31 and 45 degrees of handstand) 0.3 ^ (borderline 0.1 - 0.3 in real time)
double front 1/2
  • (leg separation) 0.1
  • (deviation from ideal position on landing, chest slightly low) 0.1
  • (hop on landing) 0.1
Total Deductions - (1.3 - 1.5) / 8.5 - 8.7

So I gave 1 for the final pirouette and I didn’t take chest on the dismount. That’s 3 tenths above your 8.5, which gave me 8.8.

Hmmm, this is borderline. Not at hip level but is a bit crunched. I didn’t take it because Brian was in the way lol.

1 x F (tucked double/double dismount / Fabrichnova)
2 x E (piked Tkatchev, van Leeuwen)

Total CV - 0.6

CR

Flight from high bar to low bar - Pak salto
Flight element on same bar - Tkatchev
Different Grips - Weiler kip, Maloney
Non-flight with 360 degree turn - toe-on full

Total D - 3.6 + 0.6 + 2.0 = 6.2

  • (step on landing) 0.1
Total Deductions - (1.6) 8.4

I think it’s more likely to be between Wong and Grace tbh, than DiCello.

My money is on Wong.

Simone, Suni, Jordan and Leanne. With Jade + Rileyyyyyy (but probably Grace if Riley can’t do AA).

I think Grace switches with Leanne if she has the Cheng.
