I already hate leaps in WAG FX, but this isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, since only #73 is actually a leap. The other nine elements look pretty interesting.

I’m glad there’s still an option to do the scale because a handful of people were performing them beautifully.

Agreed. Would also be pretty mean to yank the option away when some gymnasts have put time and effort in to improving theirs.
Yes, for the most part I tend towards making it viable to do things like this rather than compulsory. Leave room for the ones who actually excel at a skill to choose it.

I was wondering that myself since isn't the dismount always included in the 8 elements? And since they upped a double pike to a D, I'm assuming that will the be dismount du jour
It’s ridiculous that a double pike has the same rating in the mens code as in the women’s. What are they doing?! Did someone look at the sport and think ya know, what we really need are more double pikes?!

oh so that's why all these men started doing double pikes on instagram. I mean it's nice that we see proper, high double pikes for a change. I give us one major competition before we can't see them anymore tho.

Someone literally did, actually.

For what it's worth, the divergence starts around D. For example, a back 2.5 is a D in both MAG and WAG. And they also raised the values of lots of double flipping elements in MAG along with the double pike. For example, a double layout went up from D to E. With twist from E to F. etc.

They literally removed those last two rows of elements a few months ago and already are adding them back. Sigh...

Full-twisting stag jump is new. And weird. But full-twisting split jump is not credited?

Simple: New A element for "Any leap/jump with 180° split, or with 180°, landing position optional" and make a rule that says: "Add a letter for any change of leg; add a letter for each half twist."

Lack of split already is a deduction.

Popa = B. Switch leap = B. Switch half = B. Switch full = C. Gogean = D, but it's hard, so fine.

I also thought the skill selection was super bizarre. A full twisting stag? Why of all the leaps did they choose that one? There's no way that is going to look good on anyone.
