It might have been! There’s only about 1.2 between GB and Italy otherwise. James stayed on so obviously that was a big improvement, but the other two dropped tenths from qualifying.

usa literally had like 6 falls and with 4 they’d have had bronze
Lower D score with clean hit routines was not the US MAG strategy this time around and it looks like had they gone that route it would have worked.

They need to rethink the bonus system, yes they need the difficult skills but if they can’t hit them…whelp.

Do you think the US sends him again? Event specialists really need to hit their event in team final. (Am I remembering correctly that he is basically a one-eventer?)
They need to be top 9 next year (not counting CHN, JPN, GBR) so it depends if they want to risk what happened in team finals in qualifications or to go for broke and hope to be in the top 9.

A clean, well executed USA team would easily qualify. So I wonder if they ensure this.

I want to clarify that Nedoroscik is not fully to blame as everyone other than Asher Hong made major errors today. Whittenburg fell on floor and was unable to vault due to the mishap in TQ. Walker fell a few and also Malone had a rough day.
So totally a team effort and not just on individual.
Though that PH rotation set the tone for the meet and they were never ever to right the ship after round 1.

So who won? Did the pommel horse or the balance beam claim more souls?

Oh, no sorry. I was making a joke on whether more people fell on BB or PH today. Whichever apparatus has the most falls, wins!

More than a third of the routines under 7. Yikes.
