I’ve no idea whether Italy would want to do this, it’s a theoretical discussion. Perhaps completely moot. But I’ve seen nothing suggesting that there’s any provision for anything other than the next one down to get the spot if declined, with the usual caveats about my understanding of this.

In the case of MAG, the NOC cannot choose which event specialist to take the +1 which was essentially what they had going as leaders on pommels, rings, and p bars.
That isn’t how it works and that is why China will have to accept the pbars spot. If they decline the spot it goes to the next person on pbars which is not a Chinese gymnast. They cannot get the pommels spot because it was awarded to someone else. The 6 spots are allocated at the same time.

In the case of Italy it is different because they have two gymnasts in the same event.

If it ends up being
  1. Carey
  2. Ferrari
  3. Mori
Then Carey is removed since she gets the vault spot on tie breaker, so floor goes to 2nd place.
Then Ferrari is given the spot. if she then declines the spot, it goes to 3rd place.
That happens to be Mori.

So yes, Ferrari could be taken for the team and Mori would get allocated the spot.

Ferrari wasn’t meant for the +1 team but her comeback was strong and she qualified to Europeans finals over Alice D’Amato.

The 4 person team was likely to be Maggio, Villa, and Asia and Alice. However, Asia is injured and it is not common knowledge how badly she is injured. If Asia is out, they will probably want Ferrari for her DTY, beam, and floor.

She had torn her ankle ligaments end of last year and needed to recover. She has not been in competition this year, so unsure of what she is looking like.

Italian Championships haven’t occurred yet that I am aware of.

This makes sense to me. Do we know when fig is planning to formally announce the apparatus spots?

OT - but what will be the situation with Dominici of ARG? She is on the list but is suspended for violation of banned substances. I’m not sure is an appeals process can be run so quickly to allow re-instatement. With the dead-lines required by FIG LOC and the GOJ, time is running out. The next on the list will need to get everything expedited and this can be quite stressful.

No Tripartite named…which is weird because only Reagan Rutty of Cayman Islands is eligible.

That is possible…but then would they reallocate or no tripartite spot?

Why did it go to a teammate instead of the next athlete on the AA list?

Magistrati was bumped out because of 1 per country but had placed 36th in qualifications at 2019 Worlds.

Read on Gymscoop that Tokyo draw is June 30

That link doesn’t work, but yeah I saw the updated files on the FIG site and her name was there. It just was not posted by the Gymnternet twitter
