That makes sense. And it’s not a small difference at 6.0 vs 6.5. Diab at 14.9 is probably his top scoring potential where Yoder could go 15.3/15.4 with a completely hit set.

It’s not about the difference between the D-Score on the separate events - it is relative to what the D-Score is on each event in relation to the world scene. In 2019 at worlds, only Max had a D-Score over 6,5 (6,9) to qualify on PH, whereas only one D-Score of 6,0 qualified to AF on SR. In the end it is maximizing the E-score relative to the D-Score. For me it was the right call to give the chance to the PH specialist.

Yeah I thought that. He won. Youch.

Maybe he didn’t want to be? But I doubt it!

NBC (MSNBC) doesn’t want to interview Trump/MAGA supporters? This is a legitimate wondering

Possibly that and they had about two minutes left in the hour to do the interview so if he was not immediately grabbable…

(he could also be like the rest of us who would do anything possible to not be interviewed by Andrea. And he is still amateur, right? Maybe they wanted to focus on the pro athletes. insert shrug emoji)

Whatever Malone says, there will be a big line of people just waiting to rip it apart. He isn’t the most articulate guy to start with. Maybe he just decided to keep his mouth shut. Post Naomi Osaka, the press is less aggressive about demanding athletes speak to the press.

The +1 made sense.

It was never going to Juda. The FIG rules are that spot was earned for the federation, not the athlete.

Yoder is closer to the top of the international score heap on his event than Diab is. Not by a whole lot, but it’s there.

Also, with PH, if you can get into the final, your chances of medaling are better because there is more chance involved. Sometimes half the finalists fall.

SR is more stable.

I’m sure it was a tough decision.

This tweet is certainly attracting attention.

Yikes

I read the women’s report. All fine.

Except it doesn’t mention Riley at all, despite Riley appearing in the majority of the “best team score” for replacement athletes schedule.

The women’s report team selection makes absolute sense and a lot more than what was told to the media immediately after the event. If that logic had been given from beginning, I won’t say there wouldn’t have been controversy, but people would have had a lot fewer problems with it.

No mention of Riley is a glaring omission of information, and they don’t offer any reason for only taking four alternates.

Probably unnecessary.

Or as it was rumored, the spot was turned down and then not filled.

It is weird that they say
The highest scoring team from the new scenarios featured experienced athletes, and each
athlete could be used to replace either one or all Olympic Team members if the situation were
presented prior to competition in Tokyo
McCusker is on the top two scoring teams and the third team is the foursome they named as reserves. As with all of the permutations, there’s not much in it (0.234). All they needed to say was that they didn’t want to take an injured athlete who has only competed one event recently. It’s odd they just kept schtum on why they skipped two teams.
