Turkey MAG dominated in the first subdivision and are currently 1-2 in the AA. They scored 252.862 and have a 7.4 lead over France.

Subdivision 3 still has Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Ukraine, Hungary and Cyprus to come.
Though I think only Great Britain can defeat Turkey at this point and even that will be incredibly difficult.

Romania and Netherlands look good for Worlds.
Belgium and Austria are on the bubble in 5th and 6th, with Belgium looking safe at 13th. Austria will need to beat one of Hungary/Cyprus. Finland is 7th and likely out unless they get some help from a few teams, specifically Hungary and Cyprus.
If Cyprus does what they are capable of, they will eliminate Finland which would leave Austria at the mercy of Hungary, which are the dark horse team of this subdivision.

It’s so weird to live in a world where Turkey and Cyprus are major players.

I love it. Both of those teams are fun to watch, too.

Wow - when did GBR become such good vaulters!

44.999 is a pretty good team score and Jarman has been 2per’d out of vault finals!

So Finland and Norway just miss out on Worlds.
Too bad for Cyprus, finishing in 20th without Ilias Georgiou and the mid competition injury to Marios Georgiou.

They had to go up on every event as all 3 up all 3 count, with the exception of floor.

Michalis Chari was the alternate on still rings who filled in for Illias and whose score had to count when Marios ended up with an injury and scoring 0.00 on rings.

Sokratis Pilakouris was the alternate on parallel bars and replaced Marios on parallel bars, whose score had to count due to Ilias also being injured.

So essentially they had only 3 guys for the last half of the meet, rotations 4-6.

Good thing they had back up routines.

Spain had a great meet and so did Hungary.

Great Britain breezed to first and should have gold locked up so long as they hit like they did today.
It will be a great battle for team silver between ESP and TUR.
Only 4 points separate 4th place Italy from 8th place Hungary so anything can happen with them, Germany, Switzerland, France.
Unfortunate that Ukraine misses out on team finals.

I cannot wait for the team final. Well done Joe!

Also quite impressed by Spain’s Joel Plata.

Rhys had another one of those big form breaks he’s been prone to lately and missed the final. Keeps happening. Assuming it was an 0.3 he would’ve been top 3 contending otherwise, there wasn’t a big spread.

Is Rhys out of Worlds or does he qualify by route of the World Cups?

Rhys is qualified for PH via the World Cups. No qualification spots for specialists at continental championships - Eleftherios Petrounias, top qualifier on Rings, is out of Worlds because he didn’t do the World Cups.

why didn’t he then? Doesn’t he want to go to Worlds?
IIRC there was a lot of confusion about the World Cups and Continentals.

Like Vietnam didn’t enter any gymnasts in the Asian Championships because they didn’t know it was a qualifier for Worlds.
Also I believe the Hungarian women attended a few World Cups and didn’t know they earned points towards qualification for Worlds.
At least (I think) on the women’s side not all of the 32 spots were awarded because they didn’t have enough eligible gymnasts.
Filipa Martins is also out of Worlds because of this and she had made both all around and bars finals at the last Worlds.

What happens with the extra unused spots? Do they get reallocated to continental spots (and if so, which continentals do they pick?!).

ROI have been quite smart about worlds qualification. They sent multiple specialists to the world cups, and their AAers all appear to have qualified through the continental route. I think that will be four MAGs and two WAGs.

Unsure if they will be reallocated or not…also currently Russia holds a few of these spots, so at the moment they cannot be reallocated in case the ban is lifted before Worlds.
