Roberson wishes she was half as talented as Skinner.

These are children. This is a public website.

Words can hurt – especially children. Multiple comments above are unacceptable.

How we treat other people is a reflection of ourselves, not the other person.

Adults demeaning children is unacceptable – here or anywhere else. This needs to stop immediately.

Holding ourselves to a higher standard of behavior with a sensitivity to the feelings of children would be a good choice on a moving forward basis. An apology to the children whom you have insulted would be helpful – since most likely your hurtful words above will be read and internalized.

And no, I am not associated with any of the athletes above. I just can’t stand by as children are verbally pummeled by adults.

I have a 5.0 E (0.5 Artistry). She got a 5.85 E which I think is a little toppy.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Being talked about is one of the dangers of being a public person. If you don’t want any negativity you stay off social media and avoid forums.

It’s telling that your first post has nothing to do with the sport itself. If your purpose is to scold and nanny you probably don’t belong here.

Gymnastics is a judged sport so comments will be made about the abilities, lack of accomplishments and presentation.

You are right to be concerned about how children are discussed on a public site. However, I haven’t seen anything that is crossing the line. This forum is very careful not to discuss gymnasts body types or to post pictures when a coach puts a child in a leotard two sizes too small. And no one has said poor execution is indicative of being a bad person.

Poorly executed skills are fair game. We should probably blame the coach more than the gymnast but it is fair game.

Scoring experts:) Can someone break down Levi’s routines? I’ve only seen day two of hers posted. She’s a favorite. I keep hoping she will have a breakout year and that the gym move will give her consistency. thanks in advance! (is the leg separations on bars a new issue or an ongoing one for her? I don’t remember it being quite so bad!)

I like her. I wish she could clean up her form and technique, but she’s got some interesting.

So for us less familiar with the coaching and some of the technical aspects…. Is Roberson “guilty” of the Uzelac thing? Amazing as a tiny tot because she’s small but as she grows her technique won’t work anymore? Is it something that could be fixed with coaching?

I remember old boards calling Uzelac’s issues before they became so catastrophic for her. I say that as a huge fan of hers and her AMAZING toe point.

Edit to add Roberson floor at 10.

Yes, she’s small and powerful, which will take you far, but there’s a limit. Roberson is an extreme example–just look at her double full in that video. There’s absolutely zero reason to have a 10 year old doing sloppy skills.

Uzelac had her issues, but she was also a level 10 national champ, jr elite bronze medalist and 3-time junior national champ. I don’t think Roberson could have even qualified to level 10 nationals (I believe she skipped level 10 entirely to do Hopes).

Thanks for posting this, I feel better about her coaches not intentionally putting a pike jump in her routine. It appears she improv’d it when she missed the straddle+tuck 1/2 connection (I have no clue how the judges evaluated the jump, as she doesn’t appear to meet the prescribed body shape imo). She must really have a poor front split because she doesn’t do any split leap in her routine (ironically except the most difficult split leap one can do on beam, the tour jete 1/2). That can’t be worth competing. Doug, how much did you deduct for that tour jete?

I never thought I’d say this, but I hope she can master a double wolf turn and a crossways straddle 1/2.

I think her beam was better last year. Splits and form were better. Maybe needs to drop some of the new skills for a bit? IDK.

Today required drinks afterwards. Second day of classes and a new Full Time faculty member resigned…fun times. @Doug1233 Here are the youtube vids. I’d love a E and D breakdown if you get bored and have time (or anyone else!)

If it were “white women claim all top three spots” and celebrated it would be ruthlessly criticized and deemed racist. Fostering double standards is counterproductive and hypocritical.

It wouldn’t, years ago, that was the norm , it took so many years that blk ppl were allowed to participate in the sport. It wasn’t any blacks in baseball, basketball, and etc.

Nobody cares what the color of their skin is… Just make sure they’re not mentally ill like that Biles monster.

Biles and several other girls were sexual abuse by the real monster coach Larry Nassar. Fair skinned people always calling brown and black skinned people monsters when through out history it was the fair skinned Europeans who the real monsters what they did to native people around he world.

Just do us all a favor, put a pillow case over your head and a bed sheet over your body.

still last though. Coming last isn’t winning anything. Win means you beat someone else. She could have done a half on half off and a handspring vault and ‘won’ second. Pointless medal.
