I did a quick Google search and from what I saw, you're correct. They don't ask about criminal convictions for your visa application.

I have traveled to Paris with people who have completed sentences for felony convictions. As long as you're not on parole or probation, it's not a barrier to entry.

Donald Trump will be able to travel to Paris again someday.

There is if you’ve served jail time. In those cases they consider each application individually. I don’t know how many get approved
