Jordan broke 14 at 2022 worlds twice.

2022 Worlds are irrelevant to selection.

Technically 2023 Nationals do not count either, but leaving them out would be dropping Chiles' highest FX score of the entire year so I figured I'd include it. Without the 13.85 at Nationals Chiles' highest counting FX score for 2023 is the 13.533 at Pan Ams. She only did UB/BB at US Classic last year.

Is it true they are taking 4 alternates?

They are bringing 2 alternates with them to Paris and leaving 2 non-travelling alternates at home. The non-travelling alternates get to go to the 3 day Olympic Prep Camp in Texas before the team +2 travelling alts leaves for Paris, but then they go home.

1.3.3.4. The Athlete Selection Committee may also select up to two (2)traveling replacement athletes and an additional two (2) nontraveling replacement athletes using the Discretionary SelectionCriteria as set forth in Section 2.2.

2023 was a bad elite year for Jordan. The connection to her 2022 success on floor is that she’s gone back to a 3 pass routine in 2024. The double layout is a new dismount and it wasn’t looking good at classics or night 1 at nationals. She’ll need to keep hitting it like she did night 2 to make a case for herself on floor but that 14.1 shows her potential when she puts it all together.

Jordan’s domestic scores don’t seem to translate as well internationally as some of the other gymnasts. That’s what it feels like anyway. I’d be interested if anyone has the data

Chiles needs to address the leap series. She keeps trying L-hop full + Gogean and it's going to hamper her score internationally. Starting the series with a split full, like Shilese is now doing, could be a good option for more people. Can follow it up with the switch straddle 1/2. I don't like her wolf turn either, it's usually .3 off on that. I'd be interested in seeing her try a Ziganshina, it's good she has the Moerz already, that skill is such a steal in the code at C rating. How are we even supposed to deduct it? The position requirement is easy to meet and it's not really possible to have a precision or landing error.

Someone needs to remind NBC that the last time Jade competed AA internationally, she finished 8th, with Russia competing and her counting a fall.
Jade did AA at 2022 worlds, no Russians, but same 8th place finish and a fall. She did finish 3rd in qualifying, though.

NBC's Roberson hype reminds me of how they talked up Jana Bieger leading up to Beijing. Josc seems like a nice girl, and I wish her the best in NCAA and in life, but her gymnastics has no business being anywhere near the Olympics.
Jana half made sense- she had won an AA medal that quad.

Jade doesn't even have to be decent to make Roberson irrelevant. Jade could withdraw from Olympic consideration immediately and Roberson still isn't in the conversation. Leanne Wong beat her on vault with a Pod on day 1! A good DTY outscores her hot mess Cheng. Skye showing up with EF worthy vaults has rendered any argument about Roberson being in the running because of vault moot. The only place it could be argued that Roberson adds to the team is floor. And last year, Shi outscored her on floor at worlds, and at nationals DiCello and Sumanasekera did, making her, at best, the fifth-best floor worker in the US.

Roberson isn't going anywhere near the Paris team because she brings absolutely nothing to the table, regardless of how Jade looks.

She pretty much is. It's kind of looking like she'd barely make alternate. Not with Simone, Shilese, Jordan, Jade, Kayla, Skye, Suni, Leanne, and Tiana. Some combo of those nine will be the team + alternates with one (or two?) left out.
