I put this in the wrong forum, but hey ho.

MAG Euros has started. Marios Georgiou is the European champion! And wins the continental Olympic spot in style.

I'm confused about the format... How is Luke Whitehouse in Floor and Vault finals but his scores weren't counted for the team?
Are some gymnasts competing as individuals. Is it still 2021 ??

I’m so happy for Marios Georgiou qualifying, let alone winning! Great for Cyprus to make TF as well 🥳 I’ve had a soft spot for them since 2022 CWG.

All you can say about GB is that they have plenty of room for improvement in TF 😬 Tulloch obviously didn’t like me putting him as reserve on my predicted Paris team pre-British champs, he’s been really on form since then!

Yes, each country can send one individual whose scores don't count towards the team.

@Sanzhirovka I thought it was going that way so changed the title. We've got a separate thread for WAG Euros teams too.

That was a shitfest of a pommel horse final, but the podium is very acceptable. I love how happy Marios is! Coming into form at just the right time.

Rings:

1. Eleftherios Petrounias, Greece, 15.000
2. Nikita Simonov, Azerbaijan, 14.900
3. Adem Asil, Türkiye, 14.900
4. Artur Avetisyan, Armenia, 14.800
– Vinzenz Höck, Austria, 14.800
6. Courtney Tulloch, Great Britain, 14.700

8. Ibrahim Cola, Türkiye, 14.500

All but one of the guys in the top 8 area already will go to the Olympics (either with teams or as AAers), so even if Marios Georgiou got a lower rank, he would have qualified.

BUT

To qualify as the European Champion is super cool! I could not be happier — great gymnast.

It’s a shame the junior team competition was paywalled, incredibly close between the top two!

Great to see the Junior team doing so well - - gives me high hopes for the coming quad leading up to LA 28.

However, I wouldn't like to be a selector for the senior team for Paris - who do they leave out.?

Jake seems to be a dead cert. the rest - it could be any 4 from 6 - Joe, James, Courtney, Harry, Luke and Max.

Joe - hopefully this competition has just been a bad day at the office.
James - a very solid all-rounder and dependable on HB which is a bit of a nemesis for GB.
Courtney - potential Rings apparatus finalist, great on Vault and has just proved at the age of 28 he's also a solid all-rounder
Harry - also great on Floor and Vault
Luke - how do you leave him off when he has just defended his European FX crown and is also a top notch vaulter.
Max - say no more - has brought medals home in the last 3 Olympics.

I'm not sure how GB have ended up so good on FX and Vault - we used to be the Pommels team to beat. If anyone here wants to guarantee their place on the team, they need to be upping their game on HB in the next couple of months!

The GB MAG selection panel for Paris meets on the 20th and 21st May so Euros is the last selection event. Hall’s HB might be the most critical TF routine when it comes to selection.
