Tim just said the Worlds team will be the guys who make up the highest scoring team from these two days of competition. That’s what USAG told him. No camp this year. They put the scores in a computer and that decides the team.

I can’t tell if the new in-arena host is better or worse than John Macready…low bar.

Donnell looks so good with the eyebrow piercings.

I feel like a lot of these guys could use a toepoint lesson from Levi Jung-Ruivivar.

Guy from tOSU was like diagonal to the bar on a pirouette and saved it, idk how.

Khoi Young has a pretty DLO.

Fall for Asher on floor!

Did Nedoroscik get contacts? He loos so different without the goggle glasses.
Last year we had MyKayla Skinner as an in-arena host. Shudder.
I’m picturing her hamming it up NCAA style while children toss cheese balls at each other or something. It’s a terrifying image. They should just get rid of the in-arena host.

Barring a disaster on night 2 the team should be Yul/Fred/Asher…then specialists who have medal shot right? Battle between Stephen/Donnell/Curran?

They are prioritizing the highest scoring team. If that includes potential individual medalists then great. We will have to see how the scores fall out and whether track record ends up part of it I think.

Using the bonus scores, which the World team selection doesn’t use, but I’m too lazy to compute the scores without bonus:

Looking at the scores from night 1, there are 6 guys competing for the 5 spots at Worlds:

Asher Hong
Fred Richard
Stephen Nedoroscik
Donnell Whittenburg
Khoi Young
Yul Moldauer

Paul Juda’s scores don’t quite mathematically justify a spot thus far, as good as he is on FX and PH. He needs a better day 2 and/or someone else to eat it. A top high bar score would benefit him greatly.

Curran Phillips may have tremendous PB, but I think he’s also on the outside looking in.

Colt Walker was on the team last year, but his night 1 scores are not promising.

There are 2 locks:
Asher Hong because he adds so much over multiple events.

Fred Richard because of his HB and strength on so many events. Even if he fell once on HB on day 2, he should still make the team.

Khoi Young would do himself a real solid to hit PH Day 2. He’s capable of a lot more on that event and may need it.

Nedoroscik: it may all come down to his day 2 PH.

Highest scoring team without bonus using Day 1 only.
