I’m excited to see MAG at the US Classic. I’m not excited for the broadcast strategy on the other hand:
The U.S. Classic will air live on CNBC from 7-9 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, July 30 and from 3-5 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 31. NBC will air a highlight show of the senior women’s and men’s competitions from 4-5 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 6. FlipNow.tv will livestream all competition outside of CNBC live broadcast windows and will upload all individual routines at the conclusion of each day.
I’d have to get a cable/satellite subscription to see live broadcasts for senior events instead of using FlipNow. That’s disappointing but not surprising.

At the Huntsman Center usually now it’s at the Maverick Center!? That’s great!

I really thought FlipNow was going to have all those meets.

NBC will have bought the broadcast rights for x number of years. How successful FlipNow is will determine what happens at the end of those years. But basically, they’ve just taken flo sports “in house” and will show the same meets that would previously have been on Flo.

Where it might become interesting is will they, for example broadcast worlds prelims live

USAG has announced the lineup: https://usagym.org/pages/post.html?PostID=27698

Present on the senior women’s side include: DiCello, Jones, Jong, McClain, Roberson, Rosen, and Wong. Notably missing are Carey, Chiles, and Frazier (all already qualified to Nationals, iirc). It doesn’t look like Ashlee Sullivan is back yet either, but she is also qualified through to Nationals if she’s healthy and prepared by then.

Present on the men’s side include: Juda, Loos, Malone, Moldauer, Nedoroscik, Penev, Van Wicklen, Wittenburg, and Young. Asher Hong is not listed.

Pan Am team not attending makes sense since they just competed.
I wonder why DiCello is going since she is qualified to nationals. Perhaps she wants another competition under her belt after a mediocre Pan Ams and still coming back from injury.

I am excited to see the MAG compete hopefully there will be something not behind a pay wall.
With Russia out of Worlds, this opens the door for a team medal for the US men. China and Japan are strong but I think the US team could put out a pretty dangerous team.
They were so close to a team gold in 2001 and 2003. Can you imagine if they won 2022 Worlds?
Top 3 is certainly doable and if they can qualify to Paris this year, they can set up for 2023 and just go all out with the most difficulty that they can put together and try out routines that might benefit them in Paris. The one area US has lacked in difficulty compared to the top group. A no stakes 2023 can mean that they can go for broke with no worries about Olympic qualifications.

I’m glad to see the majority of the Pan Am team not attending. I’m sure they can use the rest, and it’s nice to see that they don’t seem pressured to show up just because. It’ll be interesting to see what event(s) DiCello does. Even on the junior side it looks like just Sumanasekera and Snyder.

The move to CGA never made sense to me. She was at NE Texas Elite, and then goes to CGA? A gym that hadn’t put anyone on a world team in over a decade?

Girl has oodles of talent, but her basics need to be fixed. NETE let her chuck things, and MLT continued that–hello, DTY! I’m not a WOGA fan by any means, but its got to be better than the path she was on with CGA.
