I just watched the warm up video to session 2 and Tim was saying how Riley was landing a number of DLO 1/1s. Did we see that?

I can’t believe Barbosa is still training when Andrade is likely to beat her to the 2nd spot.

Unpopular opinion, but I kind of hope Barbosa somehow comes away with the 2nd spot. Just remember her at 2007 worlds and I’m just amazed she’s still at it. She will turn 30 on July 1st. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m getting old and a bit sentimental, but I love seeing all the “older” gymnasts succeeding despite stereotypes about being too old.

Edited to add … it’s tough because Rebecca is great and is too good to be left out of the Olympics as well… ugh

Did They change the team?

They first announced it as
Jade Barbosa
Rebeca Andrade
Lorrane Oliveira
Chiristal bezerra
Júlia Soares
Ana Luiza lima

Neither Flávia or Thais were named to the pan ams team

Maybe Andrade isn’t back up to full strength and a beam fall could be the difference between making it and not?

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH or she might hear!!!

That would be wonderful. I think that being a long-time team member has become a very Team Brazil thing to do. Love that.

These were the names on the list I was shown at the middle of May.

Re: Barbosa still going at it. For BRA, I will send my six best athletes to the meet at home where the OG quota is at stake. One disastrous event can take the top-runner out of the mix so why not give yourself as many tickets for the lottery as you are allowed.

One of Riley’s FTDLO warm up passes was floating around on twitter but I can’t remember who had the video. It wasn’t great but I was impressed she was capable of doing it on the floor.

Yes, Sri Lanka’s Milka Gehani was heavily favored up until the Asian Games were cancelled. As a results both Gehani and Pranati Nayak of India qualified based on reallocation.

However, Indonesia news outlets are claiming that Rifda Irfanaluthfi has qualified to the Olympics, believing that Gehani will be reassigned to the Tripartite slot and the Asian Games slot will go to Irfanaluthfi.

I highly doubt FIG will reallocate the earned Asian Championships spot by Gehani and instead name as Tripartite.

Remember that Tripartite is available to NOC with 6 athletes or less.

Eligible Countries
Africa (35):
Burundi, Benin, Botswana,Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Gabon, Gambia , Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Lesotho, Libya , Liberia, Madagascar , Malawi, Mali, Mozambique , Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sao Tome and Principe, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia .

America (17):
Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bermuda, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the US Virgin Islands .

Asia (18):

So only Gehani (SRI) and Rutty (CAY) are eligible. With Gehani getting the Asian slot, it’s pretty much guaranteed that Rutty will get the Tripartite.

I feel like a completely ignorant ass because I didn’t even know some of these countries existed!

Hey, Simone is a citizen of Belize…

I actually do think she should switch. Means she gets away from the federation she quite reasonably views as having enabled her abuse and gives her as much freedom as is realistically available to a gymnast. If she wants two quads off then to come back as a beam specialist for 2030 worlds, Belize can be like fiiiiiine.

The one I saw was trash on both panels. I wouldn’t have credited layout H, and she landed low and flew OOB. I believe it was warmups broadcast but it could have been PT.
