Isn’t there an Onodian rule that says if you say you can do a skill you must submit video!? 🤣🤣🤣

ETA: where’s @onodian

Yes this is all correct. Show your front layout and be aware we will be unleashing doug on you so you better keep those knees straight and those hips open or that’s going to downgradesville faster that you can say stoi!

Is she just getting 1 tenth bonus for the indirect connection? (B to F?) I don’t think that’s unfair … I mean getting the momentum to get a DLO around out of a front layout stepout is for sure making for a harder pass… In elite WAG I mainly think of the front layout in the context of combination twisting passes (which are maybe becoming a bit passe) and I think it earns its keep as a B in contrast to a punch front which is significantly easier to yank around if your 2.5 twist is over or under-rotated, versus the much less forgiving front layout.

All that said - I wonder if WTC might be wanting to make the requisite front salto pass a C minimum or something? Although the clear consequence of such a decision would be a front full twist in 90% of routines, maybe not ideal either.

Sometimes I think that any skill that fulfills a requirement should be counted in their top 8

That’s a clever idea! I can see pros and cons but certainly would get promote greater focus on the CV requirements rather than checking the box.

B to F indirect getting 0.1 is totally fine. But that front lay step out into a Double Tuck being the same as a Full In Pike is crazy. Plus you get your front CR.

Yes but the FIG have made it clear they have zero interest in upgrading that. I can see front layout step out into D+ back tumble being the staple of this next Quad.

I remember when I saw Jade do it into the Silivas in podium training in Tokyo I was shook but it made so much sense.

Don’t trigger that memory.

Anyway, it would also lead to less skill variety than we’re currently seeing, which I’m not keen on.

Not social media, but cannot think where else to put it.

This evening I saw out in central Moscow together Angelina Melnikova, Elena Eremina, Kamila Valieva and Eva Uvarova (well known dancer). I knew Melnikova and Eremina were close friends but I didn’t know they socialised with Kamila Valieva. I have only before seen the gymnasts and skaters together at award ceremonies and promotional appearances

Just a comment inspired by MC’s spotting.

Now that we’ve seen the Wednesday dance in skating (Valieva) and underwater which gymnast will show us they are working that music and choreo in a floor routine? I know it’s most likely to first appear on social media.

Was gelya cheating turns on the dance floor as well?

This Illinois gymnast Connor McCool is an amazing tumbler and I thought this montage was worth sharing both because:
  1. his unique habit of tumbling out of a forward-landing round-off into front twisting saltos
  2. his combination back twisting, which you hardly ever see - midway through the video he does back 2.5 + layout barani + back 2.0 twist.
I had a teammate who used to do a punch into rudi + whip back + arabian double front, and I still dream about how cool this combo was (especially cuz I can’t find a lick of video from his competitive career)

Was your teammate competing around 2000-2002? If so, I was at US Nationals and saw that combination! It took my breath away, even though I think he fell a bit short on the double arabian.
