Gabby Douglas Comeback Thread (New goal: LA 2028)

Gymcastic’s reference for that “report” is a 2012 interview where she said she goes by Gabrielle.

They haven’t had any new conversation with her (or any contact with her at all) where she said she wants to go by her full name. Gymcastic briefly mentioned calling her Gabrielle on their podcast talking about her comeback, then continued to exclusively call her Gabby, titled the podcast episode with the name Gabby, and repeatedly refer to her as only Gabby all over their site. I can’t express how aggravating it was to have to listen to 11 minutes of Jessica talking just to verify this.

Her instagram handle is @gabbycvdouglas. Her name in her bio on instagram is Gabby Douglas. Her facebook says Gabby Douglas. Her cameo says Gabby Douglas. The sports agency she just signed to listed her name as Gabby Douglas. The only place she’s listed as Gabrielle is her twitter handle being @gabrielledoug, but then in the profile bio she again wrote her name as Gabby Douglas.

The Gabby vs Gabrielle seemed like it was more her mother’s thing. She nicknamed her Brie as a kid because she didn’t like people calling her Gabby due to the connotation of being overly talkative.

But it seems Gabby doesn’t really care that much, at least when it comes to media and stuff.

Oh, and after the Olympics, Natalie was trying to get people to call her “Golden Gabby” so…

Just pointing out that yesterday was the 11-year anniversary of Douglas winning the AA in London. A comeback is purely amazing with that perspective.

We’ve had this discussion in a different thread! I agree that there should be some sort of pass for World and Olympic team members to get to compete at Nationals if they chose to.
