I read that as “People may still get injured or pull out, so buyer beware on tickets–can’t sue us for refunds if they don’t show up”

Same here.I read that as “People may still get injured or pull out, so buyer beware on tickets–can’t sue us for refunds if they don’t show up”
any or all three of them could withdraw, as the event is a month away, so basically that comment is covering USAG by stating that they are registered to compete but doesn’t mean they will actually compete.Led by a trio of Olympic gold medalists, current athlete registrations for the 2023 U.S. Classic are loaded with Olympians, World Championships team members and international medalists.
They do not need to “qualify” it literally says “petitioning to compete”.Especially since some of them aren’t yet qualified to compete.
American Classic and a National Team camp are both the second week of July. That’s the last opportunity to post a qualifying score. Not sure why registration couldn’t close after that, but there’s probably some logistics/administration reason. What’s the point of having a registration if it doesn’t bar unqualified athletes?
The registration deadline closed before the final opportunity to qualify commenced. What’s the point of having a registration if it doesn’t bar unqualified athletes?
The petitioning criteria says just ask and you can compete? How convenient. Weird that they bother having qualifying scores and all that, if everyone is equally free to just say “can I compete?” and they’re in. I wonder if the athletes who didn’t make the score know that. They do not need to “qualify” it literally says “petitioning to compete”.
All Suni and Simone needs to do is say “Can I compete at US Classic” and they will be there.
That’s a no brainer.
They need the registration because the US Classic now has men in it, and in the past few years, the senior athletes competing was in a large amount that they could not fit all senior WAG into one session. Not sure why registration couldn’t close after that, but there’s probably some logistics/administration reason.
I was being silly about that, there is a petition critiera. The petitioning criteria says just ask and you can compete?
If USAG wanted to do this, then that needed to be written into the qualification procedures. They could easily write that all previous Olympians (or Olympic champions or medalists) are qualified, but didn’t.USAG can turn around to other athletes and say Suni and Simone are Olympic all around champs and have already proven that they are able to perform and compete at the level necessary to qualify to US Classic.
Not a free pass, but they are all eligible to petition directly to Winter Cup, American Classic, or US Classic.I believe (not 100% sure) that past world and Olympic team members have a free pass to Classics.
It is.If USAG wanted to do this, then that needed to be written into the qualification procedures.
