At least Sabrina decided to return to gymnastics after quitting a few days ago with her mom. Now she wants to convince her mom to coach her again:) I will never forget how Mom Voinea looked like she sold her lips to the devil.
Also, Sabrina said that the judges showed her a picture when her heel was outside the lines, but she claims that it's an old picture from the team finals or the first day of qualifications.

So now she claims the judges showed her a photo of her heel going OOB, but that it was from different day, not from FX EF?
First, Romanians themselves pointed out repeatedly that they inquired only D, not ND (line deduction), so why would judges do that?
Second, Maneca-Voinea did three floor routines in Paris, and she didn't get any ND in quals nor TF.

It’s not “so now” they’ve been saying there was a wrong photo since Monday. They were talking to the judges immediately after the competition trying to get answers on what happened, because no info was returned with the inquiry.

Nadia said the same thing, that the judges have a picture with Sabrina's heel going OOB. I think that is normal for Sabrina to want to know where was her mistake that was penalized for.

Full interview of Ana in the romanian press, (the reporter also asks if she and Sabrina don't have a good relationship): https://golazo.ro/ana-maria-barbosu-jocurile-olimpice-sol-revizuire-nota-gimnastica-106738

The Romanians say that they presented video evidence to CAS that Cecile Landi wasn't seen near the table of the judges. Only her could make the inquiry.

Only she can complete the paperwork, but a representative ie Laurent, can the be one who physically submits the inquiry

  • TAS decided to postpone the verdict in the cases of Sabrina Voinea and Ana Maria Bărbosu, gymnasts who filed appeals in Lausanne after the floor final at the Paris Olympics.
  • * Below, behind-the-scenes details obtained by GOLAZO.ro

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation asked TAS that Ana Bărbosu and Sabrina Voinea receive bronze medals on floor.

Romania directed its appeals from the CAS against Donatella Sacchi.

He had a double role in the floor final, being the president of the women's technical committee and the president of the Superior Jury. The latter judges every appeal submitted by the coaches of the athletes in the competition.

After seeing Romania's action, a day away, the International Gymnastics Federation chose to be a joint party with the referee from Italy in order not to leave it exposed.

Donatella Sacchi, 65 years old, is a former gymnast, without notable results, who participated in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where Nadia Comăneci shone.

On August 10, tomorrow, Donatella Sacchi is expected to give clarifications, online, in the Voinea and Bărbosu cases.

The Romanian Federation demands medals for Ana Bărbosu and Sabrina Voinea on the model Fanny Smith

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation asked TAS that Ana Bărbosu and Sabrina Voinea receive bronze medals on floor.

Thus, Jordan Chiles would keep his already obtained 3rd place medal, and at the Olympics a total of 3 bronze medals would be awarded!

However, the final decision does not belong to TAS. The tribunal can determine that our gymnasts were wronged by the TAS referees, but cannot award the medals.

In case of a positive verdict at the TAS, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation will have to submit a new request to the International Gymnastics Federation. Only this forum can award an additional number of medals.

Fanny Smith case

There is a similar case, that of Fanny Smith, where the Swiss athlete finished the ski cross race in third place at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. But after the race, she was sent off the podium after the judges deemed that he confused, during the test, Daniela Maier from Germany.

Fanny Smith went to the CAS to get justice. The case was settled by mutual understanding of the parties. Later, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) decided to restore the hierarchy and awarded both athletes the bronze medal. The International Olympic Committee agreed with the ruling, so after more than a year, President Thomas Bach presented him with the medal.

10 TAS decided: Hearings postponed for Saturday, 09:00, Romanian time

FIG (n.r. - International Gymnastics Federation) requested a postponement for the submission of documents. Got it by 6pm today.

USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee also asked for a delay to file new documents.

Until 19:00, both camps, FIG and the lawyers of the Romanian gymnasts, must present the list of people who will be heard on Saturday.

The chairman of the panel of arbitrators at CAS is Hamid Gharavi. The other two members are one Chinese and one British.

Who is Hamid Gharavi?

He was an Iranian arbitrator in more than 200 cases of the ad hoc divisions of the CAS, as it is now, in Paris.
He has a PhD from the University of Paris and a Masters in Law from New York University and the Sorbonne University.

The original news
The Court of Arbitration for Sport asked the lawyers of the International Gymnastics Federation to transmit by 14:00, Romanian time, the identity of the person who received the verbal request from the US delegation to resolve the appeal.

TAS also wanted the exact time, to the minute, when the person received it and whether there was also a written request for this appeal.

The International Gymnastics Federation requested a deadline of 16:00, Romanian time, to make all this information available to the court.
The team of Romanian lawyers, who represented the cases of Ana Maria Bărbosu and Sabrina Voinea at TAS, argued that there is more than one minute, the legal one, between the display of the note and the submission of the appeal.

Moreover, from the video images submitted to the file, you can't see the moment when the coach Cecile Landi arrives near the referees' table.

Only the athlete's coach in competition, in this case Jordan Chiles, can file an appeal. No one else on the American team.

Yeah, I can't be bothered to get too invested in the drama. The rules and regulations absolutely need to be reviewed and revised to ensure that it doesn't happen again, but arguing online about what has already happened seems like a moot point to me. It reminds me of the dudes who jump up from their armchairs and yell until they are red in the face at the football referee on tv for making a bad call during the Super Bowl.
All the yelling doesn’t change the result.

There is a verbal inquiry first, that must then be ratified with a "formal" inquiry

Does that apply to the verbal inquiry as well please?
But does there even need to be a verbal inquiry if they have paperwork ready to be turned in within one minute? Like just submit the paperwork, no verbal inquiry.

No idea! I wish FIG would write things down more.
