The competition is too close to the Junior National Games qualifier in late June. Why didn't China send a junior squad?
Was Chuso injured? Do we know what happened? I was watching her on the livestream and I was surprised -- she did not seem to be injured but then she withdrew and did not do a 2d vaultView attachment 12223

Chuso upgraded her vaults for the final. She attempted a 1.5TT for the first vault and landed it in a deep seat (but popped right up to standing.) She walked back to the start of the runway for the 2nd vault but was moving her leg around a lot like she was testing her right ankle or knee. They credited her with a FTT. She saluted like she was about to vault again, then shook her head, saluted again and withdrew.

Thanks Passion. That sounds right. She made the Finals which was enough. It looked to me like she may have tweaked something on her right leg. She kept bending it and hopping on it like she was trying to test whether it was good to vault again or not.
Probably not anything too serious, but with the podium likely out of reach with the first vault being devalued plus the poor landing it seemed like she decided the second vault wasn’t worth the risk.
Nakamura is someone who should be scoring high 14's with her talent, but the skills she does are not rewarded by the code. Def is a deduction trap, piked deltchev isn't worth any special amount, and her eponymous dismount is extremely undervalued.Nakamura's routine is very China circa 2008 with those dead hangs. I love that she's kept the Def, though.
