I can't say I expected an 18-year-old Bulgarian to use a 40-year-old Lionel Richie song for rhythmic gymnastics.

And all this requires a level of hand-eye coordination that makes me glad my myopic ass never saw rhythmic gymnastics as an option (I couldn't tell you where around here even teaches it).

Watching group quals, just saw Ukraine, saw one error but music and leos great, very enjoyable to Carmen.

Who is the fair haired coach for China, is she a former Russian competitor?

The 4 ring foot toss start from Brazil was wild! Poor Spain with a few errors including a slip and fall.

Australians with entertaining routine to “heads will roll”! They’re ahead of Egypt, Spain and Mexico. Cool ending to Israel’s routine.

One to round 2. Azerbaijan leos ribbons and balls looking like a pack of Licorice Allsorts, awesome.
Not a fan of vocals in routines but Ukraine was great.

Poor Brazil with the injured gymnast! They did what they could. Loved Australia’s Kung Fu routine! Italy’s music was great too.

There isn't and it's already confirmed for LA 2028.

Having Rhythmic in there helps keep the gender parity the IOC wants across the games. Rhythmic and Artistic swimming (though that one allows mixed teams now) lets Wrestling have more men's weight classes but keep the overall numbers even.

Yeah, the only sport that is in jeopardy for LA right now is boxing. Everything else has been confirmed including weightlifting and modern pentathlon.

It's not but breaking was never part of the core program. Surfing, skateboarding, and sport climbing were added to the core program effective next Olympics though.

Interesting how no one is doing passe fouettes in the individual event. Instead they all do seconde/straight leg or Y-position fouettes.

Props to Kolosov for including shuffling in dance steps for her "Party Rock Anthem" routine.
