I think it was a double wammy for Tanigawa - he indicated a handspring double pike ½. But didn't do the ½ ... and the double pike was downgraded to a double tuck.

Only 14.2 average score - might be good news for Asher

I think Asher will be a reserve... there are a few that should make VT EF like Carlos, Artur, the 2 Ukrainians et al

ETA: There are a lot of people who should bump him in this session alone

I missed the name of the Chinese gymnast, but his run up to vault is wild. Like he's out for a light jog.

I wonder why MAG doesn't use the U-mat around the springboard. Not having one is an automatic 0 for WAG.

They don't get to drop a score in prelims?

They do, the fall will be dropped.

That's why Liu Yang was up last. He was only going to vault if someone fell.

Goddamn it's close between Japan and China. Japan leads by .001.

Good SR routine from Said - every time I see this gymnast I say a little prayer and I'm not religious in any way!

Hashimoto fell on his HB dismount. Fantastic routine up until then.

The top HB workers are having a terrible day on the event. Somebody dust off Epke Zonderland and tag him in to rescue HB EFs.
