Zhang Yihan's DTT was such a surprise! I was hoping she would emerge as the best UB specialist (aside from Qiu Qiyuan) to put on the team and now this vault is making her such a strong choice! It's quite serendipitous how her and Du Siyu are both practically locking in their spots as VT + UB workers, being perfectly complimented by Zhou Yaqin and Ou Yushan as BB + FX workers. It seems like the only question now is if Zhang Qingying will recover the Rudi vault she was showing, in which case she should take Ou Yushan's spot on the team...

I thought we'd be seeing Hu Xuwei over and over the past 4 years. But after winning two golds at 2021 Worlds... total ghost. This was the first time I saw the name anywhere, even. What a bizarre pair of wins that was.

Shi Cong and Xiao Ruoteng, too, I guess.

But who are the other two? Zhang Boheng is always withdrawing from phases of competitions. It's happened over and over....

Too bad there's not another World Championships two months after the Olympics to send everyone who doesn't make the team. That was really a nice bonus last time lol.

Oh wow, I completely missed that. So only three spots! Is it likely that they'll do the same events they did at worlds and the others will be chosen around that?

Barring catastrophe Ou Yushan will also be on the team, so with those three BB and FX are covered. None of these people have competitive vaults and only Qi Qiyuan is strong on UB, so China is looking for VT and UB routines after that.

They haven’t announced the Olympic training squads yet but Zhang Yihan (VT/UB/FX), Du Siyu (VT/UB), Zhang Qingying (VT/BB), and Luo Huan (UB/BB/FX) are the main contenders for the last two/three spots.

Du Siyu is from Beijing, so that works in her favor. She and Zhang Yihan are a little inconsistent on UB though. Luo Huan is the safer choice, could make EF but wouldn’t contend for a medal.

Yu Linmin is still around as just a VT specialist. Huang Zhuofan is an UB specialist.

We will have to see what Zhang Qingying vaults at the final trial, because she didn’t vault at Nationals to protect an injury. Ou Yushan’s foot is also an issue again, but she was able to get through Nationals with it.

We will see Qin Xinyi, Chen Xinyi, Hu Jiafei, Jin Xiaoxuan, and Yang Fanyuwei at Asian Championships in two weeks. Zhao Jiayi is the alternate.

How many Chinese gymnasts (female). Make two Olympics? I can think of Deng lin lin and Cheng Fei. I know I'm missing some but it's seems really rare that any Chinese make two Olympic teams.
