That GB is now a medal contender falls in her favour. You don’t take someone for a big score on 1 event when you’re finishing 5th. You do when you’re contesting a medal
Agree. I also agree with GMF being the gymnast at risk. Kinsella has been outscoring her on bars for a while and Jessica’s improved bars is not that far below GMF’s recent scores. Paradoxically I think Jessica’s improvement helps Becky because she’s going to be on the team anyway.

I would say the three locks in terms of highest potential TF score are
Jessica AA
Kinsella AA (if we can magic up one of her good days)
Achampong VT/BB

Becky UB is a good complement to Achampong and then we just need a FX score. Kinsella’s improvement to international mid-13s helps here and I agree with Samxo that Ruby Evans (13.5 FX at WC plus a DTY) is a good fit. GMF/Achampong need upgrades on FX for mid-13s. If Jennifer gets back to where she was then she would also work. Having Jennifer and Becky on the team shouldn’t be scary when you have Achampong as back up and Becky has been training beam anyway.

Hopes for today:
  • no terrifying vaults
  • Kovacs BB gold
  • Kinsella FX bronze
Argh I have more but I spent too long waffling about team selection and it has started already…

GMF will benefit if the preference for AAers and disinclination to accommodate specialists continues. But it may not.

Very impressive pair of vaults from Radvilov to start us off.

BBC are very behind Eurovision again (lots of studio talk and fluff at the start) but it’s quite nice as it means I get full routine replays where I’m not stressed.

Before the final two this is already the best beam final we’ve had in yonks.

Two excellent finals there.

Beam had everything: brilliant routines, close competition, some what ifs and enquiry drama.

Vault was incredibly close and there were some stunning individual vaults.

I’m so happy. Sanne got a lot of crap on social media for being selected even though only doing beam. People thought it was time for her to go and for younger gymnasts to take over. Even though they are very welcome to come and beat Sanne, but they aren’t.

What a way to shut them up.

Any guesses as to what the enquiry change was about for Kovacs?
