Ouch, Tiana’s beam score.
Yeah she only got 5.200 D score so she lost .8 D score. Also 6.950 in execution. Unsure if there was a fall or not.
The highest E score was Madray Johnson with 7.750, so beam was definitely messy or strictly judged.
Her bars score was hilarious though. 10.000! 4.0 D, 6.3 E with -.3 ND

I am sorry, I incorrectly reported USAG’s team total at 158.800, it is actually 159.350. I didn’t realize the live scoring was showing the VT in the AA standings as the average of the 2 vaults.

2021 and they can’t figure out how to do live scoring properly.
Someone at PAGU needs to talk to NCAA.

Juniors are really cleaning up at Pan Am Games.
This bodes well for both program’s futures.

Liang won FX
Sumanasekera won vault (DTY/FTY), with Jong in silver.
Shamah won PH gold
Johnson won bars and Chio (with major error) won bronze
They missed the god sweep when Vahe Petrosyan (1st place qualifier) had an error to place 4th overall.

So far the US is dominating the medal count with 12 medals, 8 gold, 2, silver, 2 bronze. Brazil has 2 silver and 2 bronze to place 3rd in the medal count, without any golds yet, Dominican Republic is 2nd overall with only one medal which is the still rings gold. Chile and Peru are tied for 4th with 2 silver and 2 bronze. Canada is 6th with a silver and bronze won by Aurelie Tran (silver UB, bronze AA)

Thank you for these results! I saw the UB competition, but they weren’t flashing scores and I had to go be productive before the medal ceremony

USA Ladies went 1-2 on every event except bars.
17 medals in total for USA which is very impressive.

Hmmm, Aurelie Tran on Canada withdrew from day 2 of EFs. I wonder if she hurt herself on vault.

But is it though? I mean they obviously did great, but wouldn’t take the medal count as the measure here. I think the bigger achievement is that they went pretty clean overall and gained a lot of experience.

The medals are well deserved of course, but to me not very surprising for a country like USA, in this competition. I would’ve fully expected Russia to sweep all the medals as well, for example (had they been allowed to compete ofcourse).

(Hope this doesn’t come across as salty, because I don’t intend that at all) Just a little surprised.

ETA: I was talking abiut the women only here. Looking at the scores of the men, I can see they had more fierce competition (or were at least closer to the rest of the field in terms of level)

I believe you might have missed the posts further upthread where I described how impressive the US men were and how Liang and Petrosyan are going to be strong gymnasts for the USA MAG as they turn senior.
Also David Shamah was a double winner here which shows that he has potential to be a team contributor on a few events.

The overall performance was impressive and 17 medals is nothing to sneeze at. Granted they were lacking some competition as Canada did not field a full team.

The WAG ladies of course will need to clean up on execution, specifically dance elements especially Chio and Jong who are senior next year and likely will be in contention for the World team.
Madray Johnson looks promising as a UB/BB but won’t be eligible until 2023.
Sumanasekera came out of literally nowhere and is a gold medalist. Her power on VT and her talent on BB are also something the US can use potentially in the future.

My apologies. I haven’t read every single post indeed. I mostly follow WAG and kind of forgot about the men for a second, who don’t usually dominate the way the wonen do. Caught up with their results and I agree, they did an amazing job!
