Thank you for sharing. To me, this was the biggest heartbreak of the gymnastics competition.

I chuckled today thinking about Hezly's parents.

The 16-year old just spent 3 weeks or so living with 20-something social media queens and superstars, won a gold medal, and now has to go home to people who tell her to do the dishes. I'm gonna pray for Mama and Papa Rivera.

I always wonder about teenage Olympic champions. How do you just go home and go to school like you didn't just win a gold medal on the world's biggest stage? Nobody could tell me nothing for the next year.

I'm hard pressed to think of a recent American Olympic gold medalist that actually went to school. Very few American elites attend traditional school, and even the ones in college aren't having the normal "attend lecture and discuss sections" college experience.

Suni did Dancing with the Stars, instead of the tour, except a few select stops iirc.

I meant gymnasts in school when they won.

I forgot Kocian went from Rio right to UCLA, and that Ross attended public high school before and after London. But Nastia wasn't attending a normal school while she was elite, and only went to NYU after her brief 2012 comeback.
