I don’t mind at all when an athlete switches citizenship to compete for a country that they or their ancestors hailed from, but if you don’t have nationality tying you to a country it seems weird to represent them.

I feel the same way. It removes any real meaning to the team identity.
 
The one thing I like about the representation is that it gives younger girls a dream that they could one day get to the Olympics.
Haiti has never had a gymnasts, maybe with Brown representing them, and the 3 representing Philippines, it gives hope to the future of the program.
 
I think you still win. Just on the strength of numbers.

My dad did similar a couple of years ago in an incident with a saw, but decided not to bother with the reattachment surgery. He's quite enjoying having a stump.
My brother did the same. Lemons, lemonade.
