Look, I know from my own work that Romani Gypsies are extremely discriminated against in Romania to the point of serious persecution. And that includes well documented police violence against Roma. So I don't think people need to be misfed distorted truths on the internet by algorithms to likely very correctly believe there is a serious racism problem over there. But none of this is the issue here is it? This is about who rightfully won Bronze in FX at the Olympics. Thats it.

The Romanian Prime Minister, who inserted himself into the conversation, and many in the Romanian gymnastics delegation who have have made anti-American comments all week, have contributed to the tone of the discourse, and did not call for their fans to be respectful.

So no, there's no need for USA Gymnastics and Chiles to hold a joint press conference and give a larger platform to those who were complacent in a very racist and anti-American public discourse.

There was no Romanian official who made any anti American comment. That guy is delusional. On social media you get a distorted view of reality. The PM said those comments because we have an election at the end of the year and he wants to run for president. It was just politics.
