I don't know about the assistants, but I wouldn't be willing to axe Janelle yet. We only have two data points on her as head coach, and they were down 2.5 key athletes this season. I don't know if she can right the ship, but I don't see a compelling argument for ousting her at this point.

I agree, I think Janelle should get another chance. The Grables clearly aren’t up to the task and need to go.

I think UCLA would have entertained thoughts of being in nationals this year. I mean, i entertained thoughts of them being at nationals this year. Them and Michigan will surely be very stung.

That being said, Im living for the early upsets.

I was coming to ask if anyone was watching. We've got 2 hockey games and two baseball games on and absolutely no more screens available. But Spencer is making it sound like the scores are divorced from reality.

I'll just say that those vault would not have score that in any other regional that I've seen so far. I've not seen the Cal one from today...
Pilgrim had a big step/hop forward and went 9.9. Several were "stuck" but squatty. They weren't 9.7 vaults but based on what I saw yesterday, they wouldn't have gone 9.9+ in other regionals...

I don't think a vault scored above 9.90 at the earlier Cal regional. They were really strict.

There was one 9.9 or higher at Cal today. Anaya Smith of ASU got a 9.9

Not to pick on Anya Pilgrim specifically, but this is a 9.85 in every other regional session thus far.

Pilgrim – UB – Florida – hits first hs – maloney to pak, legs together, a bit low amplitude on maloney – 1/2 turn on low, solid – short hs on high – FTDT, good stick. So 9.975.

Yup. And, while Smith is lovely on floor, she had a large step (not lunge) out of a pass and still went 9.925...

No, scoring earlier today was very much in line with all the other regionals. Scoring yesterday during the play-ins was also on line with what we've seen. This session is some Grade A Super Secret Tennessee Classic bullshit levels of scoring.

I know it's not the athletes' fault but it's part of the reason I don't root for Florida...They and UCLA should have the goods to not need the level of overscoring they get. I know people get annoyed with OU but, on an even playing field, they are cleaner and more consistent than either Florida or UCLA.
