I think it had a 0.3 pikedown and 0.1 chest. Maybe 2 on the table. 1 height 1 distance 1 crossed legs. 1 v minor hop. I’d give it a 9.0.

Aside from the dismount (maybe she should downgrade?) Jess’ bars look SO much better. That Tkatchev half is HUGE

Jess has taken the Silivas out and is doing Chuso, DLO (and Frags-style belly flopped out of it)

Alice fell on front full on floor. Really short switch full (and 0.3 body shape, 0.1 feet apart). Then looked like she totally gave up for the rest of the routine.

Dumb question - since this is an individual Euros with team tacked on for worlds qualification purposes…is the team comp 4 up 3 count or nominate 3 counting scores to simulate a TF? There are also individual extras on the MAG side according to GymCastic. Not sure what that’s about 🤷‍♀️

Team results are just determined from the regular qualifying standings, 4 up 3 count.

For MAG only, countries can have a sixth gymnast, who can compete on a maximum of three events and is not counted as part of the team. (For GB this is Harry Hepworth, who is down to compete on FX, SR and VT). I think this is to avoid losing opportunities for specialists, because these used to be the individual Euros but have to have a team element now for Worlds qualifying.

Thanks 🙂

Don’t see why WAG can’t also have a 6th gymnast but doing two events. Cripes 2025 worlds are going to suck so much (but that rant belongs elsewhere).

Rants about the sucktacularness of 2025 and FIG’s outright refusal to steward the sport it in charge over belong everywhere.

Angelina Melnikova, doing exactly the same as we are 😂

Oh dear for Alice. As long as she didn’t cry yet we are all good.

It’s a difficult one.

On the one hand, Jess is the top ranked AAer in Europe and there’s never likely to be a better chance for the taking than now. She probably wanted to give it a go, too.

On the other hand, as you say, she’s been rushed. With the attendant risks. And this would’ve been a good opportunity to get major international experience for someone outside the core, which matters. Whatever ails Jen doesn’t appear to be getting fixed, and there’s a big drop off between the A and B in terms of reputation and experience at the moment. Becky is a fragile veteran specialist in a selection process that tends to require a lot of AA rounds spread across the season, so there’s never any guarantee she’ll be available. It would’ve been ideal for someone like Poppy or Ruby.

Totally agree really wanted Poppy or Ruby to get the chance and I would have saved Jess for worlds. But I’m sure she wanted the chance. She didn’t do commonwealth which the others did so she won’t have wanted to sit out again.

Jess bars looked much better at the British. Was very impressed. She has obviously worked really hard on them.

Romania is looking quite strong! I love Barbosu’s floor and the choreography and presentation of all the girls has improved so, so much. You can really see the work of Patrick Kiens (former coach of Eythora) there. Especially Barbosu has really matured.
I only worry about Sabrina Voinea a little. She clearly has the most difficult program, but it’s like they keep rushing her into more difficult skills and she’s racking up the deductions left and right.

It’s really bizarre. Romania importing coaches from Western European must be the most topsy turvy thing in gymnastics since Megan from Texas coached a Russian national team member

I’m glad they finally did. Now if they could also hire a good bars coach, that would be perfect.
Although, the barsproblems lie deeper. They start at the basics, in the clubs. They need a coach that will train the clubcoaches and reform their basics.

Is she a one event gymnasts or just one event at this meet? Is it worth training only one event and is she really useful on just one event i.e. can she bring enough points to the team final to be worth it?

The final MAG subdivision is now on (just finished the first rotation).

Jarman got two-pered on FX with lots of bouncy landings (13.833). Whitehouse made the triple back look easy again for 14.1 and Hepworth was excellent for 14.6. Turkey seemed to have solid vaults and Ireland stayed on HB.
