I’m really pleased for Italy after the worlds disaster and losing Bartolini.

  2. TUR
  3. GBR

They are, there are photographers and a podium on the floor stream.

It’s nice to finally see Turkey realize its potential as a team on a more consistent basis. I hope the team makes the Olympics this time. They sort of did last time — as 4 or 5 individuals — but they weren’t allowed to compete as a team.

4 individuals. Onder and Asil did AA, Colak only did rings, and Arican did pommels and pbars. All they needed was an 11+ score on floor, vault, and high bar and they would have made team finals in I think 4th place. There is a thread somewhere.

Individual qualifiers for Worlds

As Belgium qualified, the host country spot should go to the next gymnast in the AA standings, who is Valgard Reinhardsson of Iceland.

Just for fun - counting Hepworth’s scores in place of anyone except Jarman would have increased the team score, Hepworth in place of Whitehouse or Tobin would have resulted in a score ahead of Turkey.

Obviously there are issues with selecting multiple specialists if they can’t cover all the events between them. Tulloch and Hepworth both do the right events to work with Max Whitlock, but Tulloch and Hepworth on the same team would be a problem.

Why was James Hall not on the GBR team?

Three gymnasts for WAG and three for MAG. Only two gymnasts allowed to compete per apparatus. 🤮

It was announced in 2019 but we had our hands full getting to grips with Tokyo specialists and qualifying teams to worlds this quad. When I think about it I’m still very much in denial.

Just worlds AFAIK. It’s part of the drive to make things cheaper for hosts/increase standards. Sigh.

Agree about Millousi beam, so beautiful yet often painful.

Subdivision 1 teams

I don’t think any of them will end up in the top 13. Beam was a problem for Switzerland again, though at least this year they counted 10s rather than 8s and 9s.

Should be more qualifiers in sub 2 with Belgium, Spain, Romania, and hopefully Ukraine and Finland. I was a bit worried about Ukraine after seeing the startlist with them going 3 up 3 count on some apparatus but they’ve had a good start.

Looks like Ukraine had a nightmare on beam. I only caught two routines but they scored 11.233/10.833/10.533/8.1

Some promise amongst the mistakes for Romania on bars. Highlight was Barbosu’s 13.6.

I really don’t know what the solution is for Romanian Bars (especially for Sabrina) I mean Camelia herself came 4th on Bars at 85 Worlds so she must at least have been taught decent basics. Bars have certainly been a major contributor to the downfall in the Romanian programme. It’s so sad 😭
