France was automatically qualified to Antwerp so I believe they used this meet to get some experience for their depth.
Mielle and Laroui are inexperienced seniors, both 18.

In addition to MDJDS, Heduit, Friess not being here, Charpy is also recovering from injury.
Boyer appears to have struggled at this meet too, so this was definitely a B team outing for them.

I was wrong about Turkyie came close to knocking out Czechia and probably would have if not for weak bars, where they dropped 1.6 to Czechia and overall finished .567 from them.

The French federation gave an explanation with their team announcement which according to Google Translate says that the gymnasts not selected are being rested, and with the team already qualified for Worlds they can use this competition to try out new team members. https://www.ffgym.fr/Actualite/2023..._la_selection_la_preparation_et_les_ambitions

Melanie de Jesus dos Santos has apparently had some sort of knee operation however, so I don’t think she was available for selection anyway.

Two of the three medalling teams have a thirtysomething member, and both stand a chance of an individual medal too. It may not have gone so well for Millousi today, but the times they are a changing.

I was trying to compile a list of the female gymnasts competing this week who also competed at 2017 and there’s at least 20. Off the top of my head- Downie, Kinsella, Seitz, Kovacs, Wevers, Thorsdottir, Boyer, Devillard, Martins. Plus a few who are still training but absent- Derwael, Melnikova, Maggio, Shaefer, De Jesus

WAGs competing well into their 20s is completely unremarkable now. Nobody would even think to comment that a gymnast is 25. Another thing that would’ve seemed incredible at the start of Becky Downie’s senior career!

Immense effort from team GB. Really impressed with Gadirova’s steady improvement, Ondine’s consistency and Becky giving herself a shot at a medal.

Also so happy to see Zsofia Kovacs finally put together her AA in a big competition. 55 with a lot of room to improve with her E.

Jess looks as good as ever. Even her Gogean looked rotated.

And the HEIGHT on her two opening tumbles. I love that she’s nixed the Silivas. All those horrible online comments about it, and about her. And all the nonsense about her getting home score advantage.

I would love her to win the floor title here again.

They’re all terrible. I have to mute them…only listen during floor routines. Cathy Rigby and Bart Connor were ok. I can sorta tolerate Nastia bc she isn’t very loud.

I had a 7.7 E (2A).

The switch ring was a 3. The dismount hop was a 3. Every skill has feet. A couple of minor wobbles. You soon get to 21 tenths.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s worse than Jade. Sabrina at least looks alive and you don’t practically hear her counting the steps like you do with Jade.

Watch the routine without the music and ignore her tumbles and dance elements. There’s less than 5 seconds of dance in the whole routine.
