To receive credit for a layout, the stretched position must be maintained from repulsion until the inverted (head down) position is attained, with up to a 30 degree pike in the hips permitted. Andrade’s hips are bent past the 30 degree allowance, so at best the vault would be considered a pike. In this case, the judges also need to consider knee bend. When the angle of the knees is less than 135 degrees, a pike salto will be credited as a tuck salto. Because both conditions are satisfied, Andrade was credited with a tucked Yurchenko vault.I mean that does look pretty tucky. She kicks back out to the pike but that’s a 90 degree knee bend.
