How come you don’t see Ou as a potential AA medalist? Because of inconsistency or the injury?

Really excited for a potential Wei debut at Worlds^. Her D score next year with same routine…

EEEEEEDD 3.8 + 2.2 (D+ dismount bonus) + .7 = 6.7 It’s the same sum next quad as it is now. That’s competitive & she’s training a Ray dismount which seems very possible given how great her DLO 1/1 is.

I don’t see Ou as a medal threat because of her injury history and inconsistency. I’d be thrilled if she proves me wrong, but I’m not optimistic.

I wonder if it was inconsistency on bars from WXY that was the deal breaker.

Only got a 14.5 Day 2 of Internal test, had a 14.7 at Nationals. Yes, there was that 15.033 from the first internal test.
BUT, what good is a bars specialist that might get two per’d by Lu Yufei or Tang Xijing who were both scoring 14.6-14.8.

Same thing happened to Riley McCusker. One great 15 score but the other two were sub 15 into the mid 14s and one fall. Who was to say Riley would have gone 14.6 in qualifications and get two per’d by Biles or McCallum.

Yeah, WXY is really not a value-add. She might make UB finals, or she might not. Even if she did, she probably wouldn’t break into the medals–and Fan Yilin is a fairly sure bet for at least bronze.

Wei Xiaoyuan’s second trial UB score is 15.166^^. she missed her new Pak + Van Leeuwen.

She could get silver, but no way I would say she’s a “favorite”.

Her vault is not amazing. The roughly 1 point advantage she could gain on beam is counteracted by the point Andrade can get with vault + bars (more if she bust out the Amanar in Tokyo) and the point Suni Lee can get over her on bars. Then it comes down to floor, and Suni’s evenly matched in terms of potential, and has an advantage in terms of consistency.
