In a world where so many people get to throw their opinions about her, why wouldn't she want to tell her story from her perspective in a safe space? At the beginning she said she is a listener of this podcast.
I feel like the biggest reason is that it gives people even more material about which to throw around opinions. In fact, by sharing the information in a podcast, where listener reactions are sort of inherently part of the genre, it basically invites that.

I am not saying she shouldn't do it. I am just wondering what led her there.

rich! GTTC! omg memory lane, I’m sure we exchanged tapes back then. 🤣
The GTTC…I remember it fondly because I started it. I think it was 1995 or so. Loved running the site and am amazed at how much has changed since then. Now we have YouTube and various other sites to watch competitions. An entirely different world.

You started it? Oh, I loved the GTTC. I traded so many tapes, I'm sure my PO thought I was running a porn business.

Yup that was me. I was Shelley Nash back then and a student at University of Oregon. It was on geocities. I had a student job in a computer lab so had a lot of time to build it.

I have so many good memories from that site and some sad ones. We lost a couple of members tragically.

Overall though, I loved running it, it truly was a labor of love and I’m so glad to have made the connections I made with so many gymnastics fans.
