She hopes to be able to compete in rhe 2nd quali july 6th

I had hoped that spot would go to Mia Mainardi. Pan Am Championship 2024 should have been the qualifying event anyway instead Pan Am Games '23.

Yeah not having a procedure for reallocating the spots in case they weren't accepted is silly.
It could easily just be reallocated to next eligible AA from 2023 Worlds qualification.

Apparently it is not necessarily the FIG that is not reallocating, but IOC won't let FIG reallocate a continental spot to someone not from that continent.
Australia women qualified a full team, so it isn't like they are lacking participation.

Doesn't have to be level 10. Raegen Rutty represented Cayman Islands in 2020 as the triparte. She was not a level 10 gymnast, her "elite" routines were mostly level 7/8 IIRC.

There's also a suggestion on Reddit that one possibility is using that spot to fix the European Rhythmic Championships mess. You can definitely see why the IOC would prefer that option over giving the FIG an extra quota, which would basically be a reward for corruption.

Always hate to see a spot go unfilled but that’s not unreasonable, really.

Now Ferrari appears to be out. 😕

Either it's social media amplifying things or does it seem like there are a lot more eleventh-hour injuries this go-round?

Oh right, I keep forgetting the quad was a year shorter. Gymnasts really did have less time.

I think the short quad and also every year having multiple team championships have combined in a way that's not helped.

Not every team and not every injury, but I think the addition of a continental championship every year of the quad has been very hard on the GB and Italy athletes (not Ferrari). Especially with the Russia ban making the European gold all the more available. Which isn't to defend some of the more obviously idiotic coaching and management decisions from either programme of course.

Short quad makes sense for some injuries.

In the case of this one, persistent calf issues for athletes in their 30s is unfortunately very common on a lot of sports. Once the calf goes, it's hard to get on top of it :(
