Voinea’s an interesting case, because while Russia and Belarus may be currently uninvited from competing due to war, gymnasts from the great state of Delusion are still able to attend.

Incredibly fast heel drive on that which makes it very nice, and from this single vault alone I’d already say she should move forward with this as her primary vault. It should absolutely score higher than her DTY.

Yes he is! I’m rooting hard for him.

it was in response to a tweet asking why the US Classic set up on the competition floor is different. FX is on one side, bars on the other, with vault and beam in the middle, and space at the center. This replicates what we saw at Euros and what we will see at Worlds.

But the floor is in the middle

I don’t think she really has. But she’s always shown the potential to be a contender. I’m sure the gym switch gives her confidence at least in that she’s being trained by the very best, in case it was bothering her that she wasn’t being coached by a big name. The same for a lot of these athletes that flock to other gyms in the lead-up to the Olympics but of course I digress.

She didn’t break 12 in 2022. Now she has got mid 12 to high 12 on bars this year.

Adding Van Leeuwen and Jaeger is a big progress. Not all gymnasts can do a Van Leeuwen (e.g. Chiles, Roberson), and she seems to learn it right after the gym change.

Fair enough! Yes, she’s clearly worked on cleaning up her weaknesses, but an 11 to 12 increase on bars isn’t relevant to her overall improvement. She was always strong where she is still equally but not more strong. I think she needs to be a BB/FX specialist to make this team, and she’s fighting a huge field to gat that spot. IMO she’s most interchangeable with Chiles, but they won’t be on the same team.

Her improvement on bars was a lot though. She scored a 9 and many 10s last year, and that’s why her AA score wasn’t good as junior. Now at least a mid to high 12 is a norm for her. Still not a good score on bars, but at least it puts her AA score to high 53 to 54. Regarding the team, there’s at least a beam spot open for everyone. I would expect that spot given to someone who can contribute more than beam. She would be one competitive candidate.
