It's astonishing to me the way Romania seems willing to tear down their entire system for one athlete and coach. But I guess it's really more doubling down on the old way of doing things, that the way the people in charge were brought up wasn't wrong and how they're continuing is still the best way. Too much sunk cost for them to be able to overcome the thought process that also advantages them, too much of the goal being personal satisfaction instead of team success.

Do the higher ups still see Sabrina as the savior of Romanian gymnastics, despite everything? Or is there just too much invested in saying it to backtrack now?
It is ironic that Octavian Belu and Mariana Bitang are so involved in all this. It's hard to imagine that they'd ever have indulged inconsistency like Sabrina's, or just ignored the bits of the code they didn't fancy when planning her routines. Yes, I think too much invested ...

Apparently the 'Voinea National Team' is back training at Lia Manoliu, because this is the facility provided by their club...
Their supporters on Facebook are trying to frame the disbandment of the national team as a standard post-Olympic restructuring and are completely dismissing the logistical nightmare faced by the rest of the women.

I'm not sure. Based on some of their interviews, she was living in the dorm in the lead up to Paris.
It's obviously not unusual in the context of elite gymnastics, but I would assume most pre-college aged people would rather live at home, if given the opportunity.
I'm pretty surprised Camelia/any allegedly abusive coach would give up the opportunity to fully control their gymnast 24/7, but she did mention encouraging Sabrina to socialize with her fellow high-level athletes...
Sorry for editing the post, but I've spent 60 minutes reading through Facebook comments on an FRG post asking for corporate sponsors.
A violently pro-Voinea poster alleges that the Federation is financially enabling Amalia and Maria to stay in Bucharest, because they're full time students there, even though, as far as she's concerned, they have no interest in continuing elite, as Amalia has signed with MSU, and Maria will announce her NCAA commitment soon. The latter turned 20 this year and is a university student, so I don't know if she's even eligible for a scholarship. Both of them are part of 'Tara, Tara'.
One of Anamaria's parents commented that they've offered to pay out of pocket for her to continue training with Corina, at 'Lia', but the Fed refused. She and Denisa are currently at Steaua.

What is ‘Tara, Tara’?
It's the campaign funded by the Belu and Bitang foundation to train up medallists - it means, Country, Country (We want Champions).

Sabrina Voinea, Ana Barbosu, Amalia Ghigoarta, Maria Ceplinschi and others of their generation had this funding but Denisa Golgota was of an earlier generation.

Another article about more accusations and photos showing bruises allegedly obtained from being beaten by Camelia.

English translation at Reddit.

^Yes.
Lia is a multi-sport national training center, similar to INSEP/Round Lake, which also provides affordable/subsidized(?) dorm accommodation for national team athletes across multiple Olympic disciplines.
I've always found it odd that Sabrina lives there and not with her mom, but it's probably for the best...
Yes, probably safest.

Regrettably, they didn't get a forensic medical assessment, which would have put them in a much stronger position to take legal action against Camelia.

Supposedly, "Tara, Tara' is only ment to support gymnasts that turned senior during the Paris quad (born between 2005 and 2008), at least this is how they're justifying not adding Golgota, despite her strong showing this year or first-year senior Mihailescu.
Bellu and Bitang's 'House of Champions' Foundation is mentioned in a FRG post celebrating Blanaru's Junior Worlds bronze, so I guess that's another funding avenue.
Editing to add Golatzo's latest article containing an audio recording of the incident between Camelia, Denisa, Maria and the chiropractor Toni Fota.

I've tried to translate the convo, hope you get the gist.
M: Please don't get out!
D: I'm not. I'm staying here, what do you think.
CV: Just so you know, this is Bitang's equipment and she has said that, yes, Sabrina has priority, ok? They are not part of the project...
TF: I've spoken to Toldo (Sabrina's masseur) last week and...
CV:I don't know what you and Toldo have talked about, but I'm telling you very clearly, that you can't mass up my schedule. Let that be clear. You wait your turn,
TF: Let there be mutual respect. Wait a minute, I've spoken to Toldo...
CV: I've just spoken to Mariana Bitang, the equipment belongs to her and the priority is the child that's part of the project. End of story. If you've started (the recovery session) you may get a phone call from Bitang.
TF: OK.
Camelia slams the door shut
D: Maria, please call Corina, otherwise I'll call her.
TF: Wait, I'm calling her. I'm calling her.
M: Are you sure?
TF: Yes.
CV: I'm really not waiting for you, to get your routine and business done.
D: The Fed has said the equipment belongs to all of us.

The final paragraph states that Camelia has requested written questions, via e-mail, but had yet to respond by the time the article was published.

Equipment belongs to Mariana Bitang?? Like she bought it with her own money? I believe she and Bellu started the 'Tara tara.." campaign, but it's mostly (if no exclusively) sponsored by OMV Petrom, so how it can be 'her' equipment?
I start to wondering is Maneca-Voinea is a cash cow for people around her, and part of the money provided by sponsor(s) end up in their pockets. The more promising gymnasts (and strong and internationally successful national team), the less money for them.

OMV/Petrom is fully sponsoring 'Tara. Tara', so I find it highly unlikely that Bitang legally owns the equipment. I assume she has the final say on how funds are actually distributed, so being on her bad side greatly limits Denisa, Maria, and their team in terms of financial support.

Ana Barbosu was voted best Romanian WAG gymnast of 2025 by the FRG executive committee. Kind of weird that they do a whole top ten ranking of them, but interesting that Voinea wasn't even 2nd. She's ranked 3rd behind a junior (Blanaru won bronze on VT at Jr. Worlds.)

During the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, the ranking of the top 10 athletes of the year 2025, was voted, based on the results achieved in competitions held throughout the year.

In women's artistic gymnastics, the first place was held by Ana-Maria Barbosu, followed by Alexia Elena Blănaru, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, Aniela Maria Tudor, Denisa Maria Golgota, Iris Diana Iordache, Bianca Elena Holban, Miruna Valentina Botez, Adelina Cristina Ionescu and Daria Stefania Tănasă, the latter ranked equally with Alexandra Andreea Nica.

More on Camelia. Gymcastiic posted in Facebook:

Camelia Voinea is accused of orchestrating a campaign to undermine federal coach Corina Moroșan.

An audio recording obtained by GOLAZO.ro reveals Voinea urging supporters to “go hard” on Moroșan, questioning her salary and legitimacy. Sources within the Romanian Gymnastics Federation describe the conflict as rooted in jealousy, intensified after Moroșan’s successful work with gymnast Ana Barbosu, who won medals at the Paris Olympics. Voinea reportedly resented Moroșan’s modern coaching style and her growing influence within the national program.

Documents reviewed by GOLAZO.ro contradict Voinea’s claims about Moroșan’s pay. Rather than earning €3,000–€5,000 monthly, Moroșan’s salary amounts to roughly €1,400, including bonuses. Sources say Voinea could not accept that athletes under Moroșan were outperforming her own daughter, Sabrina, and that tensions grew as gymnasts responded better to a more supportive training environment.

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation has convened a disciplinary commission to examine the case, though no formal decision has yet been announced.

Corina Moroșan has resigned!

Cristian Munteanu - 9 Jan 2026

  • Corina Moroșan, 59, has settled her accounts with the Romanian Gymnastics Federation.
  • The decision also comes in the wake of the scandals that had Camelia Voinea as the protagonist.
  • Moroșan says that one of the reasons was the lack of a vision at the federation level.
  • All the details, plus a short interview, exclusively for GOLAZO.ro, with the coach, in the lines below.
The federal coach of one of Romania's teams, Corina Moroșan, resigned from her position due to scandals with Camelia Voinea, the coach who trains her daughter, Sabrina Voinea.

The agreement was terminated by agreement of the parties, without Moroșan being asked about the reasons that led to this decision.

Romania's women's artistic gymnastics teams were as follows:

Lot 1
  • Athlete : Sabrina Maneca Voinea
  • Head coach : Camelia Voinea
  • Assistant coach : Dan Potra
  • Choreographer : Maria Fumea (permanent)
  • Masseur : Răzvan Spirescu (FRG employee)
  • Doctor : Rascu Mihai
Lot 2
  • Sportswomen : Mara Ceplinschi, Denisa Golgotă, Amalia Ghigoartă, Anamaria Mihăescu
  • Head coach: Corina Moroșan
  • Assistant coach: Sebastian Nemeș (part-time)
  • Doctor : Minculescu Cozeta
  • Physiotherapist : Foti Tona (part-time)
  • Choreographer : Cezara Blijou (temporarily paid)
  • Masseur : Radu Marius (with sports activity contract)
The coach who brought Ana Maria Bărbosu back to the forefront of world gymnastics, after our medalist from the Paris Olympics wanted to retire, decided to step down as federal coach due to differences with Ioan Suciu, the president of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, and Camelia Voinea.

After the countless scandals with Camelia Voinea as the protagonist, the FRG summoned Corina Moroșan to the Disciplinary Commission. The latter refused to appear, but will send her lawyer.

CV Corina Moroșan

  • 1999 - 2013: Great Britain women's national team coach
  • 2013 – 2018: coach of the Belgian women's national junior team
  • 2020 – 2025: federal coach of the Romanian women's national team
Corina Moroșan accepted a short interview with GOLAZO.ro exclusively, in which she recounted what happened since she returned to Romania to coach the national women's gymnastics team.

Ms. Moroșan, is the information that you resigned true?
Yes. On December 27th I submitted it and it was accepted. I could no longer work in that environment. You also wrote about a lot of things that happened inside the gymnastics teams. I did not interact with anyone from the FRG, they did not ask me anything, everything was done through a lawyer. I had no doubt that they would agree to the resignation.

Is it also true that they summoned you to the FRG Disciplinary Committee?
Yes, I received a notice. I still don't know what's in that file, even though the notice came before the holidays. I don't understand why they called me.

But at least go and say your goodbyes?
Why? And who should I tell? For me it's clear, that was also the reason why I decided to end it. The situation dragged on and nothing was resolved, and that was a waste of time. The lack of vision bothered me, and here I mean the dissolution of the national teams, and I no longer saw a future.

I didn't know where to turn. And the girls, since they came back from the World Cup, haven't trained twice a day. Essential time, to fine-tune their physical preparation, to learn new elements. It's also important that we lost Sebastian Nemeș and no solution was found for him to come back. And what could I do on my own? Because I was effectively on my own. The whole team disbanded. And it's hard to find other people who are just as good.

Did you want peace after all?
Mainly peace, because I did things for myself, for my health. The stress had reached its maximum and, effectively, I felt that I could no longer manage the whole situation. And, I repeat, I did not see a vision. When I see what investments other teams make, what training and recovery conditions they have, what staff they travel and use in training and competitions... We have desire, talent and work, but that's about it.

How did the girls take the news?
You realize that it's not good, but they still hope that it will be done, that it will change. Maybe in another form, I don't know, at this moment I really don't see how. Denisa, I don't know if she will continue. That's not good, it's a shame. After all this work and after such a good comeback, to stop...

What thoughts are you left with and what's next for you?
I wanted to quit after the Paris 2024 Olympics, because I had achieved my goal. But I also wanted to continue with Denisa, because she really wanted it. And so did we.

I look back with satisfaction on the team's qualification in Paris, on Ana's medal, on the girls' progress this year, and I hope they continue. I'll stop here, without regrets, and we'll discuss the rest later.

The President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, Ioan Suciu, could not be reached by the time of publication of this article to comment on Corina Moroșan's decision.
