So according to Twitter these Big 4 meets decide the seeding into Big 10s? Saying currently UCLA and Minn locked into night session with Nebraska the next one due to Big 4 scores. I hadn't heard this fact.

Based on these two links, it seems to me that the seeding at Big 10’s is determined by in-conference record, especially since the second link is titled “standings” and is entirely based on win-loss. Note that the second link is not yet updated from today’s two Big4 sessions, but does have last night’s session included.

Well since the tweets got removed, I'm guessing they were inaccurate Conference records would make sense.

Going by conference records rather than NQS could result in some interesting seedings for 5-8 and 9-12.

Like Nebraska being in a lower session than a team they’re ranked more than 10 spots above.

In the past the Big 5s were used to determine seeding. Top 2 in each meet earned the night session, while the bottom 3 in each meet earned the afternoon session.
In 2022, this was eliminated and seeding was based on NQS.
As far as I know, it is still determined by NQS.

The Big Four meets/ previously Big 5 meets are now used to ensure that all Big Ten teams face each other in the season so that a regular season conference champion can be chosen.
With 12 Big Ten teams, it would be impossible to meet every team in season while also have room for other meets.

UCLA is the Big Ten regular season champions as they went undefeated in conference play.

Right now according to NQS these are the sessions:
Session 1: 9 Iowa 10 Maryland 11 Washington 12 Rutgers
Session 2: 5 Nebraska 6 Ohio State 7 Illinois 8 Penn State
Session 3: 1 UCLA 2 Michigan State 3 Minnesota 4 Michigan

From the link I posted yesterday: "Team seeding is determined by the final Big Ten regular season standings. In the event of a tie, head-to-head results shall be used. If there is still a tie, team NQS following the Big Four meets shall be used."

That sounds to me like NQS is the last resort, not what is primarily being used to seed.

Got it...so they went back to standings. Interesting as not every team faces each other in the Big Ten.

So right now we have the following, with their NQS rankings

Session 1 (seeds 9-12): #19 Nebraska, #23 Ohio State, #42 Rutgers, #37 Washington

Session 2 (seeds 5-8): #32 Iowa, #27 Penn State, #33 Maryland, #26 Illinois

Session 3 (seeds 1-4): #3 UCLA, #15 Minnesota, #8 Michigan State, #17 Michigan

Absolutely absurd that two teams in session 1 are ranked above all teams in session2 by NQS!

I would be curious to see which two teams that each team did not face this season.
Ohio State did not face Washington or Nebraska.

Poor Ohio State. They had such high hopes but too many injuries. Does anyone know Payton Harris injury specifics and she will be back for postseason?

Iowa got the luck of the draw. No UCLA or Michigan. That would have been two losses right there.

Looking at the Big 10 schedule and I see a Friday session, a Saturday noon session, and a Saturday 5 pm session. I'm expecting MSU, UCLA and the next 2 will be in the Sat at 5 session? My meet that weekend is Fri night and Sunday so I can hit the Saturday sessions!

Friday Night is session 1: Nebraska, Ohio State, Rutgers, Washington
Saturday noon is session 2: Iowa, Penn State, Illinois, Maryland
Saturday pm is session 3: UCLA, MSU, Minnesota, Michigan

Do we know the rotation order of the 5 pm session? Is it seeded or a draw? I will be there to watch in person! Should be a great competition.
